Which 5.11 approach shoes should I get?
I have been looking around online for a new pair of approach shoes/boots. I have been perusing the 5.11 website. They seem a little heavier than I'm used to wearing. |
Wear those to the crag and ask everybody if they know where to get any reefer. |
you should look at 5.12's or 5.13's line of boots. Obviously as with rock climbing the higher the number the better the boot. |
They should have named the company Five-O, or 5.0 for short. |

5.11 Tactical® Pants with the trademarked tactical strap and slash pocket design were originally developed for rock climbing. “5.11” is a rock climbing difficulty level as listed in the Yosemite Decimal System. With skill levels ranging from 5.0 (easy) to 5.10 (difficult), 5.11 is even more grueling. 5.11 is officially defined as, “After thorough inspection, you conclude this move is obviously impossible; however, occasionally someone actually accomplishes it.”
The airport security guys here in the UK actually wear all this stuff. It's a bit weird actually... sitting in the airport, having a drink, when a fucking soldier walks past you with full battle gear including an assault rifle, a sidearm that's almost the same size, a giant field knife and boots that probably weigh more than all of that combined. |

The original 5.11 pant was put out by Royal Robbins and gained popularity with the FBI. then a separate company was formed to focus on the "tactical" market and the name was used from its flagship product. |

When 5.11 was Royal Robins they actually made some good products. Its all garbage vietnamese imports with very poor QC now. 5.11 is the product of choice for Mall Cops. |
