After a few years of being in denial, I finally admitted that La Sportiva shoes are too narrow for my feet. I decided to switch to 5.10. This being my second pair of Anasazi Lace, I decided I needed to do something about the back of the shoe digging into my achilles tendon. I use them for trad and crack climbing, yet I also climb 5.12 sport in them.

I went into rock and resole, and asked if there was any way to stretch the rubber in the back so it wasn't so painful. That wasn't possible so this is what he came up with.

Cut rubber modification. The second layer of rubber is still enough to support the back of the shoe.

These fit great now. I guess the idea behind the aggressive shape of the heel is to push your toes forward, which I don't need. I wanted a stiff trad shoe, and now these seem to be perfect for me.

I've seen that before. My old partner did it to his red LaSportivas (the Tao Rossa I think they were) beaucoup years ago.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
