Anything good around? I need a climbing buddy as I left all mine back in Utah. Would love any beta. Thanks.

I just moved here as well. Im willing to go explore until we find someone that can show us around. Trad, sport or boulder, all is good.

Welcome to northern ca. You guys are pretty close to St Helena, I've never been but I hear there are some decent routes that are somewhat hard to find. Aside from that we're entering prime time for yosemite. I think my next trip will be the 13th to 15th if you want to try and link up. I live in Oakland and it is about a 3 hour drive from my place. I'll be leaving after work friday and returning sunday evening most likely.

I grew up near there. Two local areas come to mind:

1) Mount St. Helena has some great climbing on fun volcanic rock. The majority of it is bolted and can be run out, but you can place small pro in the pockets. There are some nice crack climbs on the Bear formation there.

2) If it gets hot, go to the coast. Sunset Boulders at Goat Rock State Park (Between Bodega Bay and Jenner) is a great spot for bouldering. It's not huge, but the setting is awesome.

You could also do a long day trip or easy weekend trip to Tahoe. Lovers Leap in June is hard to beat.

I would love to go! However, I am taking my last national board exam that weekend. I can climb after that! Maybe the next weekend. Yosemite or St Helena.

Ok, well no worries. I try and go to yosemite (or tahoe when it warms up) about every couple of weeks so maybe next time. Pm me your email address if you want me to let you know the next time I go.

I live in Occidental. That's 40 minutes from Santa Rosa. I'll be back in the area starting June 1st. PM me if you want to climb. My favorite place to climb is a ways north on the coast at Salt Point State park. St Helena is nice too. And there's good bouldering a bunch of places around Somoma.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
