Planning on heading to Bishop in about a week, looking for some idea of things to do in that area on a rest day(s) from climbing. Hiking, backpacking,...etc.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hiking: less snowy hiking options include the Druids and Tungsten Peak.
  • Canyon exploration around Tungsten Peak (short) or in the Inyo Mtns (longer)
  • Checking out the petrogylphs on the Tablelands
  • Scrambling at Casa Diablo, Grouse Mountain or the around the Buttermilks
  • Skiing (x-country, downhill or backcountry)
  • Snowshoeing
  • Black Sheep coffee shop/Great Basin Bakery loitering (less heinous than Schat's)

Feel free to email if you need any specifics.

Black Sheep is the best coffee in Bishop. Great Basin Bakery has better baked goods and is way less of a tourist trap than that Shat place.

2nd the vote for the hot springs by Green Church

Keough's is also fun

As is Benton Hot Springs

Black Eagle Camp is a cool hike in the White Mountains, might be a bit chilly this time of year

No shortage of things to do.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
