Could anyone recommend a PT in Den/boulder who specializes in work related over use injuries?

The wrist on my good hand has gotten steadily worse in the last year, to the point where it hurts to drive, open doors etc. This is mainly due to overuse at work (General Contractor) but was started from a mtn biking fall. Initially, the pain didn't affect my climbing , but now i feel in about everything i do. Any comments or recommendation would be appreciated.

Boulder Center for Sports Medicine - see Simon (female, pronounced See-mone). I've not used her for an over use injury, but for other things. I looked forward to my sessions with her! Hope it helps.

There is a newer treatment that is now approved for Physical Therapists in Colorado. It is called Trigger Point Dry Needling or Intramuscular Manual Therapy. It is great for muscle and tendon conditions. The technique uses accupuncture needles and is safe and very effective. The neuro-physiology of the method is very complex but I have had great results treating patients. You need to see a certified practitioner to have it done. There is a level 1 and a level 2 certification. The link below is a Boulder PT with both levels of certification. There are other Boulder PT's doing the technique just go the website in the link below and click on find a provider for other names.

Good luck.

Yo Fred,

With the shoulder rehab I have been going through I have seen a bunch of PTs and post surgery was blessed to find the Howard head folks. Going to the Silverthorne location now. A bit of a drive, but beats anyone I saw in Golden.

@ Jeff:
I have the 50-year old shoulder syndrome; partial tears, stretched ligaments, arthritic symptoms. The pain keeps me from sleeping through the night. Occasionally I'll get a nerve zing under tensioning (like an overhanging gym route), but am not really limited in my range of motion like a true tear does. Could you elaborate more on your gig?

Hey Mike - I can't give you any specifics about your shoulder since I haven't evaluated it, but in general the Trigger Point Dry Needling can offer relief with any muscular/myofascial pain. I do find this very commonly in the shoulder and if you were seeing an experienced practioner they could probably help you considerably. I have dislocated my right shoulder and continue to have some problems with muscular pain, labral tears and impingement but since I have been having the Trigger Point Needling done I am much, much better.

If you are in Evergreen you might check out Patty McCord at Evergreen Physical Therapy. She is an excellent manual therapist (Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists) and should be able to help you out with any over-use type of injury related to work or recreation. She may do dry needling also (many PTs are certified in this technique in Colorado, so you should not need to travel to Boulder just to find someone who uses this.)

Good luck!

Thankyou everyone. These comments and references will give me a great start on tying to get this under control. jeff G, the dry needling sounds fascinating. Ben, I hope this year we can do some climbing. ErikaNW, I like the commute.

Ben let me know how your shoulder's coming along. The Splatte is calling!

Man, how I would like to be out climbing at Splatte! Up to 3 pound curls with the right arm my friend, should be increasing to 10-15 pounds in the next six weeks to two months... long way still to go.

Bump...

I am seeking the same, a PT in Boulder that climbs or is used to working with climbers. Thought I would ask again since the thread is a year old now. (The issue is elbow/bicep, but that's besides the point--found lots of other good threads on that kind of injury.) Now's your chance to bring your favorite local PT a little more biz! Thanks, Carey

I'm also going to bump this thread to see if anyone has some recommendations for a good PT in the Denver area that has experience working with climbers and shoulders. Thanks for any referrals.

Greg McCall in Denver set me straight with my shoulder. He also does dry needling, which is awesome.

This is a nice topic to discuss because thousands of people are suffering from bone pain. I know that the person wants complete releif from the pain but doesn't know how to. I want to suggest CACC-PT therapy which will provide the needed relief.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
