Be weary of discount Arcteryx
|
Has anyone else bought anything/had a bad experience with arcteryxonsale.com? |
|
Real classy Trasgo. |

There are fake arcteryx jackets all over the place. They are usually pretty easy to spot if they show you a picture of what they are actually selling and not a stock photo from the arcteryx website. |
|
Yea Jason, you found a few of the things I doscovered after I ordered it. I didn't really get it on a whim, I waited a few days to see if that jacket would disappear or the price would change, but the more I review the site, the more flaws appear. Oh well, I think I was so overwhelmed by the deal of the jacket that I wanted REALLY bad, and that feeling of 'If I don't buy this now..." I just went for it without proper analyzation. |

The best thing to do is to always buy from reputable dealers online like backcountry or online stores that have actual stores as well (e.g. REI, Moosejaw). If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Arcteryx gear is not something you will often find that discounted, so be wary of super deals on difficult to discount products. It's interesting to note that arctery/xonesale.com even forged a better business bureau insignia as well. If you want to find deals like that, use a site like steep and cheap which is supported by backcountry.com--a reputable dealer in gear. |

As long as the dead bird is embroidered somewhere on there, that's all I really care about. |

Best, Blake p.s. by linking to those pages you make them appear higher in search results on Google and Bing, making more people go to those pages!+1 to this. I'm a huge Arc'teryx fan, but for the most part the cost exceeds my budget*, and I've rarely found deals in the +30% range except in odd sizes or off colors. But if you keep an eye on the stores mentioned above, once the change of season sale comes around, you can at least get 20% off.

blake green wrote: p.s. by linking to those pages you make them appear higher in search results on Google and Bing, making more people go to those pages!I recently read an article where Google has a new algorithm to keep people from profiting off of negative attention so maybe more links with negative words in them will drive them lower. The issue arose because some idiot had a negative article posted about his store, it got bumped up in google, business increased so he just treated all customers like shit to get more links to his site. |

You can always look up domain ownership and IP info if you think a site is sketchy. This can tell you a lot about who runs it. For example, I went to network-tools.com and found that arcteryxonsale-com was registered with GoDaddy on Sept 24, 2010 by someone in Beijing, and the site is hosted on a server in Malaysia... |

Hopefully I didn't inadvertently do them any favors by posting a link to their site here on MP. |

I've had good luck with ZBSports.com before. They usually have some discounted Arcteryx items for men and women and even give a little back to a charity for each purchase you make (or that's what they claim). I've ordered Rampart pants for around $60 instead $95 and was very satisfied. |
