Be weary of discount Arcteryx

Has anyone else bought anything/had a bad experience with arcteryxonsale.com?

I really didn't get screwed by them cause my CC was never charged. But at the same time, I am never going to get that jacket that I really wanted for half off. Just a heads up, don't try ordering anything from them.

Real classy Trasgo.

Sorry your deal went South, Mark. Probably better you didn't get the jacket.

That site looks pretty sketchy. Template Page not found returns on policy, about us, and other company info pages and the blog is still an empty word press template as well.

And this...

There are fake arcteryx jackets all over the place. They are usually pretty easy to spot if they show you a picture of what they are actually selling and not a stock photo from the arcteryx website.

Look here and notice the same metallic arcteryx logo

Here is another fake

Yea Jason, you found a few of the things I doscovered after I ordered it. I didn't really get it on a whim, I waited a few days to see if that jacket would disappear or the price would change, but the more I review the site, the more flaws appear. Oh well, I think I was so overwhelmed by the deal of the jacket that I wanted REALLY bad, and that feeling of 'If I don't buy this now..." I just went for it without proper analyzation.

As long as no one else buys from them, or tries to, its all good. No harm no foul. Just a little bit of a tease.

The best thing to do is to always buy from reputable dealers online like backcountry or online stores that have actual stores as well (e.g. REI, Moosejaw). If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Arcteryx gear is not something you will often find that discounted, so be wary of super deals on difficult to discount products. It's interesting to note that arctery/xonesale.com even forged a better business bureau insignia as well. If you want to find deals like that, use a site like steep and cheap which is supported by backcountry.com--a reputable dealer in gear.

Best,

Blake

As long as the dead bird is embroidered somewhere on there, that's all I really care about.

+1 to this. I'm a huge Arc'teryx fan, but for the most part the cost exceeds my budget*, and I've rarely found deals in the +30% range except in odd sizes or off colors. But if you keep an eye on the stores mentioned above, once the change of season sale comes around, you can at least get 20% off.

I recently read an article where Google has a new algorithm to keep people from profiting off of negative attention so maybe more links with negative words in them will drive them lower. The issue arose because some idiot had a negative article posted about his store, it got bumped up in google, business increased so he just treated all customers like shit to get more links to his site.

You can always look up domain ownership and IP info if you think a site is sketchy. This can tell you a lot about who runs it. For example, I went to network-tools.com and found that arcteryxonsale-com was registered with GoDaddy on Sept 24, 2010 by someone in Beijing, and the site is hosted on a server in Malaysia...

these guys dont sell ... they just link to sales ... arcteryxoutlet.com/index.php

spadout, google, etc ...

as long as youre buying from a reputable retailer youlll be fine ...

a quick search of department of goods (backcountry outlet) shows 72 items on clearence ... just keep looking and youll find stuff on sale especially at seasons end

departmentofgoods.com/sales…

i dont bother buying dead birdies anymore unless i get 50%+ off ... or its KFC ...

Right now its on page 6 after you google the Alpha LT. Hopefully I didn't inadvertently do them any favors by posting a link to their site here on MP.

I've had good luck with ZBSports.com before. They usually have some discounted Arcteryx items for men and women and even give a little back to a charity for each purchase you make (or that's what they claim). I've ordered Rampart pants for around $60 instead $95 and was very satisfied.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
