Numb Finger Tip

Five days ago I took a fall, after I peeled off my left middle finger had no feeling in the tip. It was numb on the right side from the first joint all the way to the tip. After a few hours it got a little better, but I still have a large area without any feeling. Has this happened to anyone else? One of my friends said it could last days, weeks, or maybe months, but the feeling will eventually come back.

I had a very similiar thing a few months ago, a couple of my fingertips on my right hand went numb for about a week after climbing. Freaked me out, and after spending $100 for a doctors visit I got the good old "oh it's just a compressed nerve, rest it and ice it and take some ibuprofen." It felt better in a few days of resting it. Wish I hadnt gone to the doctor over that, but oh well!

I'd say to give it some time. I've pinched nerves before by jamming. The damage lasted a while but eventually repaired itself.

yeah, give it time.... A few seasons ago, I bashed the hell out of my hand ice climbing and i couldn't feel half of my pinky finger for about 3 months....it came back.

+1

Back of my thumb felt like it was full of novacaine for about a full month after a particularly sharp jam. Took about 6 weeks before the numbness was completely gone. Just part of the territory.

Peripheral nerves will regenerate after a crush injury. They grow back at abou 1/10 mm per day. You'll be fine. If the numbness gets worse then go see your doc. Please send $100 to my office.
