I don't know anything, but I'd be reaaaally interested to find out. I love the area. I was out there last summer, and saw some guys on their way back to Bear Lake who said something about having "climbed" up the ridge around granite lake. One of the guys had some belay gloves on, I don't know why. They pointed to the area, around here: maps.google.com/maps?q=38.1… That whole eastern side that is up closer to Granite lake looks like it'd have some interesting stuff. Something that may be worth checking out, if you're gonna be up near Y Meadow is the wall on the north side of the meadow: maps.google.com/maps?q=38.1… There were a couple interesting cracks all on a 40-60 foot wall. And the campsite that's right there is good, too.
Seriously, though, if you find anything worth while, report back, I'd love to find out.

yes besides burst rock. thats not even backcountry as far as im concerned. im thinking back near the yosemite border. huckelberry lake. numerous short pitch oportunities, as well as a number of longer sections of wall that could be multi day ordeals.

well the overwellming response leads me to think i shouldn't have any trouble getting some first accents. should be going later in the summer once the snow starts melting(july-ish). since this place is at least 20 miles in, i would like to have a good size group there for potential rescue and or evacuation. idea being: on a long climb you would have a team ready to go to assist, and a team on the wall. anyone interested in taking part in this expedition contact me here or by email. anyone is welcome, even if you don't want to climb (i dont see any good and sane reason why you wouldn't,) emigrant is a great place to be. good fly-fishing, etc. ive got a number of friends tenatively in on the plan, but the dates are not set in stone.
