pain in isolated spot in middle of my back...anyone else have this?

Did you ever figure out the issue? I have had a similar pain.. Mine is located on right side near shoulder blade. I've had it for over a year sometimes I will lay/roll on a tennis ball and it takes the breath out of me, sharp pain that radiates to the front area ribs/liver region. Its the weirdest thing. I was concerned of liver, gallbladder, pancreas, but labwork and ultrasound came back fine. Went back a few months later and they did an xray of my back, said all is fine.. went to a chiropractor for an adjustment and that did not change it.. I am so stumped as what it could be. I scare myself thinking of the worst and I am praying it is not anything serious.. |

Hi all, I'm a 29 year old man. I have a tender spot in my mid back around t6? In October last year I had a very sore swollen upper right back around my rhomboid area? I've had a painful back ever since and it radiates to other parts of my back its so sore and frustrating I had an mri scan done about 6 weeks ago and apparently I have mild scoliosis and the Dr said that is what is causing my pain, I disagree as I've done my research and mild scoliosis doesn't cause pain and if it does its mild. After standing for a couple of hours or going to work it begins to hurt feels like a burning pain in my mid back.. Any suggestions? |

When i press or roll ball, i feel good. My physician suspected it is muscle knot and gave injection last week. Feel little better but i also feel it will be back soon. I still feel that due to injection pain is not caught but it trigger pain around that spot with certain actions. He also suggested hot pack. But i am waiting for some one who had same problem and was able to identify exact cause. Most of the time it cures when i sleep and wake up next morning. Breathing out of mouth also give some comfort while massaging this spot. |

I started getting pain in my upper spine when conducting heavy ruck marches in the military 2012-2014. Just got a CT scan last month when I had a bad fall, bumped my head, got put in a C-collar for precaution. Was told I had two bulging discs that wasn't a new injury. I figured it was from my military years! |

Pain is produced on twisting, extension/flexion, and direct pressure of vertebrae. MRI negative for herniation (which is good). Also having popping in mid back which wasn't there before. Used to be heavy weight lifter. I completed facet injections today at T5-T6, T6-T7, and T7-T8. Hopefully pain will improve but as of now it actually made soreness worse which Ive read can happen. I have had difficulty taking a deep breath for some time now which I suspect is related to muscle tightness in attempt to protect the nerve. |

Anyone with unresolved or repetitive back pain read "healing back pain" by Dr Sarno. You might have TMS ( Tension Myositis Syndrome) in short your brain is causing pain by depriving muscles/ ligaments/ nerves and Tendons of oxygen. You can download the Audio on audio book which is what I did. You won't regret it trust me. All you have to do is read the book and your pain will subside. Came across someone else sharing the book on another thread of back pain and I honestly can't not share this. |

Leah, I'm notsure if you are still dealing with this. I have exactly what you described. I still have this problem. I went to have Radio Frequency Nerve Ablation in a area in my joints around that spot. I was sedated and it was such severe pain it made my cry during the procedure. I knew this problem was there but no one understood what I was talking about. The Dr. said it was like a Complex Pain Syndrome. Sadly, I have had the nerve ablation in several areas in my neck and back for pain radiating. from herniated disks. The RFA" has helped my pain for a couple of years at a time, but not that pain. My Dr. did not have a suggestion. It appears to be a bundle of nerves that sends more pain signals to your brain. I deal with it by 1. Not touching that area. 2. dealing with symptoms around it. (disregard this mess of letters, I couldn't go back and delete them. vroomrDeraasergoji) |

I finally went to the doctor and told them I need them to look at it. They took an X-ray and I certainly do have scoliosis. I’m in my 30’s so there is nothing they can do about it. They prescribe me muscle relaxers and tramadol. Poping it and using a heating pad seems to help a lot. Somedays are better than others. Some days it is almost unbearable. They told me I’ll just have to deal with it. I also bought a tens unit that seems to also help. If you have any ideas that are different I would appreciate it. |

Mark E Dixon wrote: The pain is quite literally in the middle of my back - equal distance between the base of my neck and top of my buttocks, and situated right over one or two of my vertebrae. Seems to be a 2in x 2in circle of pain with no visual bruising and generally hurts only when I push on it, but every now and then I get a stabbing pain in that area. Don't remember falling on my back recently or getting hit with anything to such a specific area. And none of my packs have anything sticking out or pushing on that area. So honestly I have no idea what this could be. Anybody else have similar issues, or can give me some hints to mine? Since you are posting here on MP, you might want to verify that there isn't a knife sticking out. Exactly how it feels ☹️ Like a knife is there and when I lay down or it gets touched I want to scream!! I flinch tho haha |

Leah Leaves wrote: Has it really been 5 years already? Crap, I'm getting old ;) Sorry kid, but nope - never figured out what exactly it was that caused the pain in my back. I had a TON of issues with inflammation, such as tendonitis and bursitis, over the years in my arms (fingers, wrists, elbows, and shoulders - literally all parts of my arms), and one doctor suggested it was all interconnected. That perhaps joints and connecting tendons were swollen around my spine, too. But they couldn't say why it was just one specific area and not across by whole back. As you’ve been having a lot of inflammation on nerves, it came to mind Nightshades! I’ve been trying to figure lifetime of migraines and some unexplained back pain, for the past 5 years and I had almost rid my body of “poisonous food”, yes I call them poison for what they do to me, with a 90% success (victory!). Anyways, this link was the most persuasive and informative to me: https://www.michaellebowitzdc.com/html/Solanine.html Hope this message reaches you and aid you on your health |

Anyone figured this pain out? I remember there was a similar thread in a veritas health forum that unfortunately is now gone. Some people had in common the following things:
Large proportion of them had some type of hypermobility Some had had an injury like a car crash Most of them find cracking happens wothout effort and temporarily relieves the pain, but the more you do it, the more it hurts in the long run I’m glad I found this new thread googling because I sometimes get overly anxious about this pain being from pancreatic cancer. I still want to do a CT scan to make sure it’s not that, but I fit all the criteria I mentioned above (gymmed a lot, got tackled and injured my ahoulder so badly I couldn’t lift it for 2 weeks [and I think my pain started around then], and definitely have hypermobility [can hyperextend shoulder, thumb to forearm, leg behind neck, wrist, etc]) I also have very tight lats and traps, which might be related. To this date I haven’t really found a cure, but I know what makes it worse for me: not sleeping enough, being stressed, cracking it a lot, working out my back too much (the following days), standing up for too long without moving, sitting in an upright position for too long. Happy to hear if anyone has found any solutions! |

Been dealing with it for about 3-4 months. My issue seems to be T2 vertebrae. |

Aaron La wrote: Hi Aaron, Thoracic pain/discomfort can be a result of a lot of different things, you can even feel pain referred to that area from dysfunction elsewhere, such as in the neck, making it more complicated. It would be best to be assessed by a physical therapist in your area but here is an excellent article written by a physical therapist to get you started in the meantime! The good news is that the pain is very pinpoint meaning it shoulder be an easier fix than something that is spread out. It will take some time and consistency with exercises since you've had this issue for a while. That's another reason why seeing a physical therapist may help resolve your discomfort more quickly and they will be able to determine the true source of your symptoms to limit the chances that they return in the future. https://theclimbingdoctor.com/thoracic-mobility-for-climbers/ There are additional articles on this blog for back pain, all written by physical therapists if you're looking for additional information.
