I'm looking for recommendations for an outfitter to pack climbing/camping gear into the Wind Rivers this summer. I did see these two previous threads, which suggest Diamond 4 Ranch and Lander Llamas.

Does anyone have experience with these outfitters? Has anyone used other outfitters? I'd love to hear about your experience.

Thanks in advance.

Hey, We used Diamond 4 Ranch Last year. Jim Allen is a class act and I will use them again for the winds. Its a mellow hike in from his ranch, I believe it was 15 miles of flat hiking. Nice to hike in with a camel back and live like kings for a week. They also have an amazing campsite they use, just under Mitchell Peak. It was a great base camp to have and you could get to any climb in under 1/2 an hour. Enjoy!

D4 and Jim Allen are a top notch outfit. Great road driving in to their place and they have some fine lady horse women as well as wranglers! Class outfit... Makes me think about Bear's Ears and them growing a horse big enough to carry my fat ass!

I'd reaffirm the above comments for sure, with an additional plug for Lander Llama since it wasn't mentioned. We did a llama trip once and found their services and animals and general approach to mtn travel quite excellent.
Where are you going, if I may ask? D4 is primarily (exclusively?) on the east side. There are some good outfitters on the Bridger-Teton side of life, if your goals take you west of the divide. LL can arrange for trips anywhere, I believe.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! This is helpful.

Andrew - we're thinking of going to the Cirque of the Towers but aren't completely set on that yet. I think the easier access to the Cirque is from the west side, right?

Just walk in! Jackass pass is not that bad at all. We walked in and stayed for five days. Of course we didnt have the luxery of bottles of booze, comfy chairs, ect, ect, ect. Fantastic climbing left me a little winded as I was living near sea level at the time of the trip.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
