Last time I was at Joes we camped at the reservoir campground. Looking online it appears that it does not open till the 25th of May, thus what are the other options for camping in the area, or is it ok to camp at the reservoir before it is officially open? I know there is BLM land around but it would be nice to have a table and pit toilets if possible. Any help would be great, I tried searching this site and google but found very little information. Thanks

I was at Joe's about the same time last year. The campgrounds near the reservoir were all closed so we just camped on BLM land down the right fork. The locals might know better but I think you're out of luck for any kind of a toilet. Unfortunately the BLM areas don't seem to get a lot of love and there's a quite a bit of human waste lying around... The further you head up the fork before the mine the better it seems to get. Bring a poop spade and it's not so bad. The climbing makes it worth it at any rate.

The main part of the Reservoir campground is closed but 7 sites are currently open and accessible. There is no running water and no way to pay but the the out house is unlocked (bring TP). (We camped there 4/22 -> 4/25)

You can also camp on the Right or Left fork in various parking lots. The largest place to camp is the parking lot for the Man-size area. It might be nicer to camp up the road at the Bouox area since there is currently a porta-potty.

Thanks to the SLC climbers for paying for the porta-potty at Joe's!! saltlakeclimbers.org/node?p…

Have fun!
