I think someone should look into doing a mountainproject/beeradvocate joint venture.

If you don't mind being gooned for 'only' having climbed 5.9 that afternoon...Southern Sun in Boulder makes some of the best brew on the planet. I've never been all that enthused about their food though (except the nachos). Go to the downtown location (Mountain Sun) if you want to avoid the scene.

Oskar Blues...unfortunately, someday, everyone's going to discover that place. Good pizza, GREAT beer. Until then...prost!

Golden City Brewery is hilariously small, their beers big. Wish they stayed open later; I don't usually get done skiing or climbing until it's closing time.

Rick Blair wrote:I don't know what the status of the "Idle Spur" brewery is but their Red Lady red is(was?) one of the best reds I have ever had. Really nicely hopped, fit somewhere between a Pilsner and an IPA. Anyone shed some light on this or know where I can get some in the Denver area if it is still around? On a side note, a lot of houses in CB have hops growing as part of their landscape, it seems to grow really well up there.
The Red Lady Ale is brewed by Crested Butte Brewery. They closed down for a couple of year but reopened two-ish years ago with new owners but the same recipes and brewmaster (i think). They recently moved out of the Old Idle Spur Building. The orginal owner (Tom Skerritt of Top Gun fame) went out of business because he tried to mass market the redlady ale and had it brewed and bottled somewhere on the front range and lost control of quality. The new owner vows to not let that happen. They are building a new brewing facility in CB with inhouse bottling capability. They have been selling the Red Lady ale and White Buffalo Pale ale in CB and Gunni in sixers and bombers. Hope that answers your question.

you don't know what your talking about....
best brewery BY FAR is Oskar Blues in Lyons Co. I lived in Oregon, drank the beers from all of the PNW and Cali and have found that those guys in Lyons make some truly world class brews.

also gotta give props to the 2nd largest brewery in Golden. the golden city brewery is a super laid back place to enjoy a frothy malted beverage at the end of the day with all your friends and their friends.

let me have it!

I do have to second the Oskar Blues Brewpub. Old Chub, heaven in a can, um um.... They also have a great IPA and there Dales will go down as smooth as a sharp knife through hot butter on any hot summer day. Cajun food is always good, as well.

The Glenwood Canyon Brewpub is a really fun hang out with decent food. Bolted sport climbs at "The Neighborhood" are about five-ten minutes away. The Palisade brewery (in Palisade, CO) is great brew in Colorado's "wine" country. After tasting wine at many of the local vineyards you can sample their most excellent brew. Rockslide Brewery in Grand Junction is pretty good beer with pretty good food. The little brew pub in Dolores is a neat spot in a cool little town. Mesa Cerveza in Cortez, CO also has good beer in a neat Southwestern setting.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
