Does anyone have any advice for 2 girls wanting to do a 2 or 3 day backcountry ski tour (Sierra huts?) at the end of March/early May? Wanting to know a good tour for one person who is new to backcountry skiing with minimal avy skills and one person who is a skilled and experienced b/c skier. Both of us are very fit, so approach isnt an issue. The only issue is steepness of slope due to a moderate skier (blue groomers). Wont go if its not corn snow. Thanks for your input.

My bro is doing his annual hut tour this Thu/Fri, but from what he says, there's no way you can do that without reservations many, many months (to a year) in advance.

After the perfect storm two weeks ago warmer weather is causing some freeze and thaw conditions in the Sierra's and corn snow is setting up nicely with some heavy stuff sliding in some areas. Your timing couldn't be better and don't pass up a tour with a view of the lake. Easier lower angle tours Incline Peak, Mt. Baldy,Rifle Peak and Rose Knob all in the same area Mt. Rose Wilderness off hwy 431 Nv. The photos are of Incline Peak. Local Back Country shops can give lots of info.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
