Where to Buy a Zipper?

I'd like to repair a blown zipper in my bullet pack and wondered where one would obtain a single quality zipper in 20" length.

I checked the fabric stores. The zippers they had seemed cheap and plasticy. I know if I used one of those I would destroy it in less time than it took me to stitch it in.

Any ideas?

You might want to try Ripstop Repairs in Boulder.

They will replace it for you too.

There is a cleaners on the SW corner of Arapahoe and Broadway. They might be called ABC or something like that. The older woman at the counter (owner, I think) did very high quality work replacing a zipper in a powder suit, including the right interior hidden stitch.
I was very satisfied with the work and as for the price... negotiate a good cash-in-hand price & you'll do fine.

Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics is a good place to buy just about anything you need to make your own technical soft goods.

I've used Boulder Mountain Repair in the past and they have done good work, but in this case were too expensive. Thus I am going to attempt to repair it myself. I could buy a brand new replacement for this pack at retail for 1/2 the price it would cost in labor to have it repaired. And I'd do just that but I guess I've gotten attached to this one after dragging it up countless climbs and I hate to throw anything away. Other than the zipper it's still going strong.

I think I can get what I need at the site Chris suggested. Maybe they will even have the nylon canvas fabric I have been searching for to make climbing pants out of. Anyone have a source for that?

Thru-hiker.com should have a few options. Rockywoods probably does too.

www.zipperstop.com They seem to have a wide selection of quality zippers. Among the things they carry are self-sealing outseam length zippers for zip on shell pants.

I know you want to save money by doing it yourself, but REI Outlet has the BD Bullet pack for only $29.93. Just another option...
