Can anyone recommend some day hike trails in the Spring Mts/Mt Charleston area? I'm hoping to divert some non-climbers who will be visiting and have done a little research online so far. Its hard to tell which trails are most recommended for scenery, strenuousness, flora/fauna, etc. Thanks for the help....Bernard

Now is not a good time, as there is a lot of snow there.
It also depends on the ability levels of the hikers. One of my favorites is the Bristlecone loop. I like it because it is a loop and not out and back as most up at Charleston seem to be. However, it is about 6miles long, so keep that in mind.

My all time favorite up there is to do the North loop to the summit of Charleston and come down the South loop (14-16 miles in all) which may be longer than a day hike for some. As far as flora and scenery, it's all very pretty up there, but I couldn't say which are the best for that sort of thing. I'm sure there are tons of hikes out there but these are all I know about, hope this helps.

By the way, you may have more success posting this in the Nevada section of the forum.

This is a great website with lots of excellent recommendations - birdandhike.com/Hike/_Hike_….

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
