Bishop -- rest days
Heading to Bishop for a week in March. |
Visit the Mountain Light Gallery (Galen Rowell) if you haven't been. |
Thanks, Nick. Yeah, I love that gallery and am definitely planning on taking my wife there. |
go see the oldest tree in the world on top of the white mtns. you can drive there and its a really short walk. its a forest service site. just ask around in town how to get there. |

Hey Jon, |
You probably won't be able to get up to the Bristlecones in March as it's way up there in the Whites. South Lake and Sabrina will be closed too. You're best bet is to stay in the valley, walk around town, or even head 30 miles up rt. 6 to Benton and stay at the hot springs there. Campsites with their own hot tub - you can't beat it. Keough's Hot Springs are fun too if you've never been. the kids love it. $8 a head... or just go feed the ducks at the Bishop City Park. |
Link to some Death Valley hot springs beta: |
Last time I was there was for a month long trip. There was plenty to do when we wanted to rest. Mono Lake isn't too far and the sand dunes on the West side of Death Valley is really close as well. And don't forget to hit up the free hot springs. There are two: the Green Church and the one just south of town near the actual pay hot springs. Just head towards the pay hot springs and turn right at the power lines. You should see the pulloffs from there. |

skatepark .... there is a pool there too if the weather permits |
