We met Ken Nichols today at Ragged Mountain. He let us use his TR on Unconquerable when we finished up our leads, and chatted with us for a few minutes about CT climbing in the 70s, when he was putting up FAs by the dozen. Really nice guy, and glad to have met him on one of our rare trips to CT!

This past march i was climbing in a remote canyon high in the mountains of mexico when Dani Andrada and crew show up at the testpiece cave. I spent the next week chilling and climbing with Dani. What made this extra memorable was having everyone there the day i redpointed my first 13. I think watching him onsight my project and all the other 13's in the cave was the highlight.
From my expierences climbing in boulder ive run into John Gill, Jim Erickson, Daniel woods, Chris Sharma, Matt Wilder, Johnathen Siegreist, Sam Elias, Joe Kinder, Emily Harrington and Lynn Hill.

The list of famous and inspiring climbers I have met is quite long but I select these as especially memorable:

Royal Robbins - I took him and his family on a weeklong rafting trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon a few years back.

Yvon Chouinard - I met him at a small tavern in Chamonix and ended up sharing a few drinks together.

Alex Lowe - I met him at 14000 feet on Denali in 1995. We shared dinner together with a few other climbers.

Ive ran into a handful of famous climbers at crags/climbing shops.

The only climber I can honestly say I have met(introduced myself to) is Jason Kehl, and if he remembers me at all im sure he doesn't have a very high opinion of me as I accidentally billowed smoke and flames in his face, along with everyone else around the fire at the rock ranch that night.

ps sorry about that

I met Will Gadd last year when the Reel Rock Film Tour came to my University. He is an incredibly nice guy. Will ran a clinic for our climbing team, then climbed at the wall with us for a few hours. He also helped us teach a kayak roll clinic that evening. WIll is an awesome boater as well, something I didn't know before then.

This would be a lot more fun of a thread if we changed it to "Who is the most famous climber you have slept with?"

Ive met a good chunk of the professional van dwellers and parent's basement livers. Im most proud of my close proximity to Alan Watts. I live about 2 blocks from him. I doubt he knows his biggest fan lives so close.

Alright, I'll go first. Hank Caylor. Hank Caylor is the most famous climber I've ever slept with. After that, probably Andy Laakman.

Steph Davis stole my Camp chair at a climbing event! awkward moment of "um, excuse me, I have to leave now- can I have my chair back...please? (Akward)

Also had my first born drop a load in his diaper right before Timmy O'Neil grabbed him from me as we both presented the Access Fund and the Reel Rock 2010 on stage at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland. (Super Akward!)

Kevin Jorgeson IM-ed my wife on F.B. a few months ago thingking it was me. Both happy to "catch up" (Awkward?)

Sharma and I are the same height (at least in boulder) does that mean I can R.P,. Realization, etc.???

+ too many to name...

I met David Lee Roth & Steve Vai at the New River Gorge in the 80's climbing at Junkyard Wall. This was when his awful MTV video of him swinging around on a rope had just come out.

DLR was getting his ass kicked on a 5.7 TR and we were taking photos and joking around with Vai. DLR was pissed and wanted to take our camera, he seemed to be roiding out. Vai was really cool though and thought it was funny too.
