Long skinny feet, Shoes??

So, I bought a pair of 5.10 Gambit shoes about a month ago, and the outside edge is coming unglued, again. Three times two different pairs. I know this is a result of my narrow feet and a little too much fabric around the balls of my feet and toes(in the shoe construction). The result is, they fit perfect if I tighten them so there is a wrinkle lengthwise down the outside top of the shoes. BUT this causes the shoes to de-laminate(peel apart) way too fast, and I am getting tired of Huffing shoe glue on a weekly basis. To get to the point, I wear size 11.5 (5.10) Narrow, skinny feet,my toes look like your fingers. Any one have the same problem? Shoe suggestions? Would like something leather, slight arch, and a technical toe box. Haven't had much luck with velcro either. Thanks JPB

Sounds like me... Long, narrow feet and rather than toes fingers that happen to be on my feet. I've tried just about everything out there and the only brand of shoes that fit me decently are La Sportiva, and even then only the Mythos (after much pain and stretching of a too-small shoe) or Barracuda (without the pain and stretching). The Tradmaster fit OK, but seemed a bit warm and clunky. Most everything else is way too wide. Oh, and just FYI I have a slight case of Morton's Toe that complicates things further (big toe slightly shorter than the second toe).

I have the same problem, but lots of women do. Try the 5.10 siren or a low-volume Anasazi. Don't worry, you'll dirty them up so fast that your friends won't be able to tell that they're womens shoes.

You may want to try Red Chili and Evolv.

I have long, skinny feet as well and La Sportiva is the brand that I've found to fit best. I like the Vipers.

I have the same problem, size 12.5 super narrow. I like the Anasazi or black evolv and I have some beige red chili's that are lace ups.

I've got it too.

The best shoes I've found are La Sportiva. Specifically the Mythos and the Testarossa. The testarossa is actually the best fitting shoe I've ever owned. I tried on every shoe in an REI and the mythos was the only thing that worked. Most everything else was terrible for me. Also, try the womens shoes as well as they tend to run more narrow.

good luck!

the mythos seem to fit everything from duck feet to my size 14 hot dog feet. On the 5th resole(sadly, probably the last) of my second pair. The best shoe I've owned. Others I've had are the teal anasazi, 510 mocasyms, and a pair of evolvs. So, add a vote for the mythos.

I have large (13 street shoe) low-volume somewhat narrow feet and I wore 5.10's for years (Summit, Hueco, Anasazi lace up, Lynx.) I never thought I would wear La Sportiva's or an unlined leather shoe because of the last and stretch. Out of frustration I tried the Mythos and I can't believe how much I like them. And no appreciable wear after nearly a year. Come down to Neptunes and try on every shoe they have until you find something that works. I have found them very helpful, if you get any "neptude" just ignore it.

Evolv Evos work really well for me. I tried women's Anasazi's but they were not great.

Muiras. Hands down. Barracudas are good as well.

I have long skinny feet too and the best shoe I have found is the Scarpa Vision. I think Italian climbing shoe are best best for narrow feet and scarpa is the way to go for me.

scarpa technos and la sportiva mythos are the ONLY shoes that work for my long skinny feet and shallow heel (at least that I have been able to find and try). The lacing systems on both of them cinch the heel into the foot. The techno is a higher performance shoe, and has been a lot more durable than my last pair of sportivas.

I used to agree when I bought the Lady Eclipses and they were the narrowest shoes I ever done tried on, but then Scarpa replaced them with the Thunder--which doesn't fit the same at all. They are too wide vs the length for me. So I guess it depends on the shoe.

I agree with the following brands to try:

  • Evolv
  • La Sportiva - the Mythos and the new Nago
  • Mad Rock Phoenix is very narrow

The solutions are a bit too down turned. If sized right they could work. Sized to big for comfort the heal is too sloppy. Sized to tight. well the long foot is in mucho pain.
Width of the foot has alot to do with it too though.

When I tried them on, I found them to be a little wide for my skinny feet. And you can not snug them up. Now if you have normal to wide foot, they may work a charm.

Just a trick for snugging them width wise.
Twist the velcro strap in a couple spins and then strap it down. This gives you more pull power with out running the tab off the end of the velcro.
