Has anyone heard anything about when or if Paradise Rock Gym would reopen and where the new location will be? Their website has no updates.

I don't have any new info on when/if they will reopen. But I was wondering: When was the last time anyone climbed at Paradise? I had a friend try to go about 3 weeks ago and Paradise was completly stripped inside with no signs or notes on the doors outside.

I know that doesn't help the current question, just some more info about Paradise being closed. If anyone knows what's going on please share. I think that Paradise is/was one of the best gyms I've climbed at.

Here's an email they sent out may 13th. I guess they will send out an email when they re-open.

Paradise Rock Gym
. . .The End of an Era

Dear Paradise Rock Gym Community:

Big News! For many months we have been planning a relocation of the Gym to begin a new era for our climbing and bouldering community. Since Paradise Rock Gym opened in late 1990 it has developed into a Denver Metro area climbing institution with a national reputation. To embark on this new phase, we are announcing the end of an era at the Paradise Rock Gym we know.

The last public climbing session at Paradise Rock Gym will be Sunday, May 18, 2008, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., closing an 18-year run on North Washington Street in Denver, Colorado!

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, May 20 at 6 p.m.

to attend the PARADISE CLOSING PARTY!

PLEASE RSVP by Email to thegym@paradiserock.com by May 16

so we will have a headcount. We'll send another email with details.
Please plan to bring a dish to share.

Bryan, Gary and the staff are all working on the new project. After all agreements are final, we can share the excitement about gym details as we build the new hub of our PRG community.

Moving forward. If you are a current Paradise member, you'll receive a personal letter by mail with details on the current status of your membership account as of May 18, 2008. For members with paid-up dues, there will be significant incentives to continue your membership in the Fall 2008.

History of a local climbing institution

Since we opened our doors in late 1990 (the 3rd climbing gym in the U.S.!) there have been many changes to our sport and to our gym, one thing, however, has remained constant: YOU, a genuinely warm and enthusiastic cadre of friendly and supportive climbers!

Many shared experiences and relationships over the years have formed a very special community of, not only climbers, but of family and friends: for that we are grateful!

The local climbing community has contributed an unconditional and overwhelming amount of support and loyalty throughout the rich history of the Gym: for that we are thankful!

The relationships that connect all of us have grown into lifelong friendships and partnerships, and have reached out to touch people's lives both in and out of our climbing circle: for that we are lucky!

Friends like YOU would make any business proud, grateful, thankful, and definitely lucky!!

Our community is the most important element of our business. We are eager and committed to continuing the spirit and traditions of PRG. All of us at Paradise Rock Gym trust that you will stay in touch, as we wlil, with further announcements to members and friends.

Have a GREAT SUMMER and STAY CONNECTED!

Sincerely,

Bryan T. Mallin and ALL THE STAFF at Paradise Rock Gym

I went regularly on Wednesday nights. I knew when it was closing but haven't heard anything since they closed. They set good, hard routes where the sequencing was spot on. Good people, and great, laid-back atmosphere.

Dang, I would have liked to attend the closing party. Hope they get the new location built and running in the Fall.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
