I've climbed at Red Rock in January, and had the unique experience of my shoes melting on routes in the sun, and freezing my tail off on routes in the shade. How is the weather in early April?

getting warm. I personally have found the march madness era my favorite. Great basketball and party times in vegas at night. variable temps for climbing in the day. the weather has been weird there i think though. I was out on rainbow wall in november which no one goes up there too often that time of year. It was a bit chilly though. I think you may even end up chasing shade in late march as I recall climbing in T shirts the last time i was there ove rspring break. I bet right now is perfect :)
april is a good time, but i say that about every month. if you want to come, come. it might be hot, it might be cold, you never know. probably more moderate of a temp difference though as far as weather is concerned in january. probably in the 80's, maybe hotter in the sun, colder in the shade. i think you have identified the crux of route picking in red rock accurately. some days you just have to choose: freeze my ass off, or burn to a crisp. it keeps things interesting
