Using Phillip Benninfield's Colorado bouldering guide book (which is several years old) I attempted to access Nicky's boulders just outside of Estes Park. When I arrived at the parking lot described in the guide it was posted for permit only and there are brand new homes between this lot and the boulder field. Is there still access to these boulders? If so, what is it? Thanks
Don't think so... we went out there of one of our first bouldering excursions maybe '02 or '03. They started building like a year later. I'm sure the eastern half does not even exist anymore, possibly including that "Whale" boulder (which was totally cool looking!). To tell the truth, the rock there was painful! Super sharp.... never went back. You're much better off at the Little Twin Owls area and the Book Boulders.
