Does anyone know of a good place to camp when climbing at Quartz Mtn? On the one trip I've made there, we got there late at night and ended up camping in what appeared to be (once dawn arrived) a picnic area. We didn't get hassled but I would rather be more responsible next time. Thanks for any help.

It is not legal to camp at the crag any more. But there is a camp ground at the Quartz Mt. resort a few miles away (to the East). I haven't stayed there, but I think that it is the closet place for legal camping.

the camping at the resort is pretty good and pretty close to the climbing. I can't remember the fee, but it is probably in the 5 to 7 dollar range for a site.

Camping at Quartz Mountain is 8$ per tent as of Feb 25 2006. So, if you have a large party, bring one big tent for everyone and have a party. It is only 7 minutes drive away from the Mt. Baldy (the mountain the climbing wall is located on.) However, as of the same date above, the most direct route to the climbing area is out and you must drive way out of your way to get there (about 20 minutes).

Love Quartz Mtn., the place rocks. Very good Granite jumping straight out of uberflat cow crap fields. Armadillos everywhere........Very good times. Routes are kinda bold. 4 stars in my book.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
