I saw First Ascent at the Boulder Theatre a few weeks ago and that was a good one. Good trad and alpine footage. Also, Uncommon Ground representing the variety of New England (could have used more ice and maybe some Gunks, but what are you going to do).

On the Rocks! Classic!

I've recently watched the following from Netflix:
1) Masters of Stone V, poignant tribute to Dan Osman but you've gotta sit thru alot of Dean Potter.
2) Best of the West, pretty good bouldering at Hueco Tanks with Chris Sharma
3) Women Who Climb, really boring.

Return to Sender // Parallojams

If you appreciate IC Crack & x-treme Slack-line - this movie rocks..!

"Front Range Freaks" is a classic and for you Boulderites has a large section dedicated to Derek Hersey.

"Splitter" recent movie well worth watching. Is about a couple guys doing high alpine climbing and putting up some impressive FAs but a lot of travelling fluff to get through at the beginning of each chapter.

Eiger Sanction - for just being a classic.

The Void scared the piss out of me.

I'll say ditto on most the above and add:

Uncommon Ground. Well done flick. Keeps my attention and the changes of venues works real well.

Reflections of a Solo Sheep Herder. Laugh my arse off every time I see it.

Yank on This. First Pusher video? Great stuff. Seeing Kelly O campus and Dave B slack chain downtown...super. SLC bias to be sure.

The Mountain. Oldy but a goody. Where else you gonna see double rope aid climbing just like the ol' dads used to do, and, with Spencer Tracy to boot.

Moving Over Stone. All good.

Vertical Frontier. Outstanding history of the big ditch.

Comfortably Numb. Utar thing (hence, I'm biased), but, good stuff. Highlights include the rockprodigy himself on Bottomless Topless in Maple (and how mixed ice climbing is contrived, or some such, funny quote) and some of the local guys gettin' pumped and dumped on the mixed ice game.

Bachar: Man Myth Legend. Left me wanting more, but, pretty watchable.

The Eiger Sanction is my favorite.
There are two other old movies about climbing that are really good too. The Mountain (circa late 1950's-early 1960's) starred Spencer Tracy and Robert Wagner. It was a good film about an aged and retired guide (Tracy) who comes out of retirement to accompany his son (Wagner) up a high peak to make sure his son doesn't get hurt. The son has heard of a plane crach on the summit and he wants to go pillage the crach site under the guise of searching for survivors.
Banner in the Sky is a Disney musical (circa 1959). It tells the story of the first ascent of The Citidel (which is actually The Matterhorn. If you have kids, or even if you don't, this is a classic. The scenery is amazing and the climbing sequences are amazingly realistic.

Ah, good movie, but I think you've got the book (s/b Third Man on the Mountain -- for the show).

Yeah, Third Man on the Mountain--it starred the guy who played Dano on Hawaii Five-O.

I don't think the video The Art of Leading by John Long qualifies as a movie but it does have some of the best climbing sequences and is great for learning how to move well on stone.

Rob T -- you may need to lighten up a bit ~ Tiz just a movie

movie
n : a form of entertainment that enacts a story by a sequence of
images giving the illusion of continuous movement

I just watched Return2Sender, and the Parallelojam segment is fricken' unreal. Your palms will sweat watching it! Highly recommended.

Hard Grit is great. I also loved Fast Twitch: Yank on This Too, which has footage of Sharma doing Just Do It and Necessary Evil. I watched that movie dozens of times when I was a teenager learning to climb.

Yea Angry...that Didier guy can't climb for crap....hahaha

Dosage Vol. 1 was good, maybe the best climbing movie ever when it was first released, and I don't even like sport climbing.

I kind of like cliffhanger... Vertical Limit was kind of cool, a close second for me.

What'eva. You guys can go to the other cinema ~ there are always several. Untimately it's DC's decision.

Have a Root-Beer then. Cheers ~

Witness This: Hands down the best bouldering video ever made. Anyone else ever seen it?

Angry: Your totally right, laybacking is lame and so is every sporto who does it. IT doesnt matter if the offset crack your climbing only takes a blue alien, you should be jamming it damnit!!!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
