Evolv Rave vs. UpMocc
|
Has anyone climbed in both the Evolv Rave and the UpMocc? I used Moccs for years and switched over to the UpMocc when 510 went under. They are good but definitely do not stretch as much and the rubber patch on the outside can get in the way a bit, imo. Do the Raves behave similarly to the old Moccs as far as stretching goes? Looking for something with a nice thin profile to use on thin cracks before I buy a different size of UpMoccs. |

Can’t speak to the comparison, but I do love the Moccs I have. Hope this is helpful tho: 1. The new Moccs (2025-) seem to have different toe patches which you can see on UP’s website. Maybe see if those make a difference? 2. I’ve heard the UP Duels feel more similar to the old Moccasyms, but they’re full synthetic so probably won’t really stretch either. They don’t have that toe patch. |

I have both. The upmocc is a much better crack shoe than the Rave. The Rave keeps a much more aggressive profile, even through aging and lots of use. I did size mine for sport, I bet they’re ok had I gone a size bigger. Everything is ok for cracks once you size them up though. The UpMocc stretched more than the Rave for me. I think even stretched, the Mocc edges better than the Rave. I like them both and will probably get them both resoled once they need it. |

That's definitely the root of the issue in this case because mine are currently sized with slightly curled toes, making toe jamming miserable. The overall design of the Rave looked similar to the old Moccs, so I thought I'd look into it before just sizing up. Thanks for the bit about the Duel, I hadn't noticed those before. |

I found the raves to be trash. I love the UpMoccs, they feel so superior in cracks and on small edges |

I have the raves and tried the upmoccs for a while. Sized them both till they felt about the same. The raves felt so much better on sandstone smears and marginal footholds, but I had to glue on a different shoe's toe rubber for cracks. The upmoccs didn't feel as sticky, and the toe box profile was a little bit higher, which makes me think they might not be great for thin cracks. Didn't wear the upmoccs long enough for them to stretch, but the raves went up about a half size. |

> Evolv Rave I'll likely buy this pair again as it's the only [neutral] slip-on rei has, and I have some rei rewards sitting around. Next pair I'll be trying a different slip-on. |

Rave's felt really good in the store, then tight when first using them, then great when they stretched out. I ripped up the mesh stuff on the outer sides learning crack at gym and put some shoe-goo there and that seems to be kind of working. |

ive found the stitching on the rave to be god awful, after one climb in the gym on my new pair i had a multi-inch long split on the inside of my foot. i didnt even size them to be tight |

Upmocc is fine, but build was not the sturdiest. Rave is probably your best bet for just a jamming shoe. Remora is another viable option. The heel tension is the only issue i have had with it. Pops off on anything resembling an aggressive heel hook. Fine for push feet, toe hooks, and jamming though. If you try remoras, go street shoe size for that flatter toe fit. I downsized 2-2.5 full sizes with pre-adidas moccs and half size down from street shoe size remoras were comparable. The remoras stretch a little less though, maybe .25-.5 less than og moccs |

It makes them a bit ugly but brushing seam grip on the seams of the raves has helped durability immensely for crack climbing. |

Is that like a less gooey shoe goo? |
