I really wish that Scarpa would adopt the Boa

Scarpa boots fit my feet really well. My favorite mountain boots are all Scarpa because of their last shape. However, I really wish they would come out with a mountain boot that utilizes the BOA system. I've got Boas on my ski boots; Boas on my wading boots; Boas on my winter hiking shoes; Boas on my double boots. I love not having to dick around with laces. I love the consistent fit that doesn't get all sloppy as you climb. If Scarpa would come out with a Phantom Tech with a Boa closure, I would buy that boot in a heartbeat. Getting tired of waiting for Scarpa to jump on the BOA train. |

Scarpa is working on a new Phantom series boots, it has a strap around the calf, which may also include a lower boa, but thats only speculation. For pictures see videos of Colin Haley (patagonia m10 promp video, tyler karow alpine climbing videos) |

Millet has a boot that is essentially a lighter, warmer, cheaper Phantom Tech with I believe TWO Boas. |

No toe welt, and only compatible with semi-automatic crampon bindings. That's a deal breaker for me, even if the Millet last fits my foot. |

Started looking around for a Scarpa alternative. Found these: Zamberlain Zarathurstra. https://www.zamberlanusa.com/product/24946209/9000-zarathustra-gtx-rr-boa-recco-black-orange-men-s Ordered a few sizes to try on. They run large. I normally wear a size 11 or 11 1/2 US, but will probably fit best in the 10 1/2 Zamberlains Boots have a higher voume fore-foot like the Scarpa boots. Fit my feet pretty well. Seem comfortable. Haven't tried them outside my house yet, but am going ice climbing next week and will test them. Will report on how they climb and hike when I get more data. |

I suggest you carry that tiny torx driver. I had a boa fall right off my ski boot. Was lucky to find it in the skin track (with the damn screw - amazing). Just needed to be screwed back on. My new ski boots DON'T have a boa and I am very happy about that! Buckles for the win. Boots with boa don't fit as well in my limited experience. |

I'm one of the ones who really hopes that they do not go to a BOA. Laces have consistently provided me with a better fit and ability to tension areas that I need it while keeping it loose and allowing circulation in other areas. I've owned several pair of BOA boots and while they were the best choice out of the available options at the time they never fit as good as boots with laces for me. I keep coming back to boots with laces when I can find the right fit. I'm really happy that the current line doesn't have BOA, particularly the Phantom 6000. I have no issue with the BOA system from a reliability standpoint. |
