Handle size of BD Hydra?
|
One question - can anyone compare handle size of BD Hydra vs DMM Switch? Or vs Nomic, medium / large setting? I mean - the largest possible setup, I've got really big hands. Sz. |

Szymon Kozłowski wrote: You could make the Hydra much larger if you so desired by purchasing additional spacers and swapping the stock handle bolt for a longer one. This would allow you to make it larger than the Nomic or the DMM if you needed. I can do actual measurements of Hydra vs Nomic in a little bit if you really need them. |

Just tell me whether "same size" means medium or large on Nomic. Thanks :) |

does the handle break like the nomics? |

Szymon Kozłowski wrote: The picture i posted is of a Nomic set to handle size Large and a Hydra set to handle size Large (2x spacers). The hydra handle can be adjusted in size by adding or removing spaces, the tools come with 2x spacers each, but as Nate mentioned you could purchase more and make an extra large handle size with 3 spacers and a longer bolt. -no spaces = small -1 spacer = medium -2 spacer = large The three size adjustments of the Hydra are relatively similar to the 3 size adjustments of the Nomic. When set to medium the Hydra handle is a little bigger than a Nomic set to medium. When set to Large both tools have almost the exact same handle size as you can see in the photos i posted. Hope that makes sense for you! |

That's concise, thanks |

I tried the Hydra. It did not work for my big hands. The problem is not the size of the handle...with the spacers you cna make it as short or long as you like. The problem was that the small radius of the pinky rest pinched my...pinky. I understand that some people want to feel really locked in withe the pinky rest. Others, like me, prefer a larger, open radius. The hydra pinky rest is also on the narrow side...less surface area compared to the Nomic and the X-Dream...which is dreamy in this respect. Just information for people with different preferences. |

That might be a bit od an issue. Designing and 3D printing custom parts might be impractical and costly... |
