Thanks Mei! I love all of your writing, so many of your stories have given me the psych to keep trying hard things.
Awww... thank you, Brady. You made my day! But that's exactly what your story did to me!
I have a petzl evolv adjust (the one with 2 arms) that I use as my PAS. I wore climbing shoes all day— I’m not badass enough to do free moves in approach shoes.
I'm glad to hear Petzl Evolv Adjust is your choice as that's what I have. I was wondering if something better has come out in the last few years when I did not attention. I just ordered one for my partner. Fingers crossed that it's not on backorder (not clear in my order) because everywhere else it's out of stock. (Edit: Found out it's on backorder without ETA. Bummer.)
Jugging in climbing shoes gotta be hard on them, but I guess for rope soloing, it does not make sense to switch shoes all the time. How my feet feel these days makes me think that wearing climbing shoes all day is pretty badass.
Great job on the climb and having the desire to follow through in a safe manner. Also excellent write up, maybe a free lance writing career in your future. Good job keep climbing you will find a few partners and sometimes less is more.
Great write up and great send!!! Amazing in so many ways, thanks for the share.
I second the comment on no stoppers? And would highly recommend North Dome Gully over the raps any day. That was the crux of the story for me, you rapping! I think it would have been wiser, even onsite, but once you've done it, you'd see how easier it is. I can't remember now but think it was maybe an hour at a casual pace? ( I also can't remember the fastest time on Royal Arches /NDG car to car, but think that was being done in 40 some odd minutes, could be wrong though, but just to give you an idea of what's possible when running it.)
