Acopa Shoe for Purple-Red Camalot Cracks

Cracks in the baggy purple-tight red range make it feel like my feet are being chewed by a bench vise.

My TCs and Mythos are both due for a resole, and I want to try out Acopa to see if it's better for a slightly wider foot. For this use case I'm looking at the: Merlin, Enzo, and Legend.

When I'm not attempting cracks of this size, they'll likely be used as bouldering shoes on granite.

Anyone have thoughts, opinions, or experience?

You could also tell me to stfu and get another pair of TCs, or even better, tell me that I need better footwork.

For the same size range I was struggling with my TCs also. Katanas feel like razor blades across my toes when I tried jamming in those.

Up Moccs have been great though, they're my go to for #1 and smaller cracks. I'm not sure they're particularly wide though

I’ve owned Enzo’s and Merlin’s and Aztecs.

The Aztec by far is the best for thinner cracks. It has the most svelt (thickness not width) toebox of pretty much any climbing shoe I’ve worn. It’s like a mythos that doesn’t stretch like a mythos, better rubber too.

Enzo’s are nice but I find the heel is way too loose for any straight in crack that will have some face climbing. They also seem to delaminate pretty quick.

Acopas have a pretty tall toe box in general. The spectres and Aztecs are the thinnest and work well for thin cracks. Any of them would be great for granite

I have the Merlins, JBs and the Legend.  For .75 size , the Merlins are my favorite.  No experience with the other models mentioned though.

I have a pair of Spectres and they're great for sport climbing but i wouldn't use them for thin cracks. I'm a bit picky with the toe box on my shoes and the Acopas are just too tall for thin stuff. I also have a super wide foot and I strive for comfort. That being said, I have a pair of Butora Alturas and I love em. Supposedly the green ones are wider version and they're a great mix of performance and comfort for me.

If you can get your hands on a pair of five ten Supermoccs in your size - they are like cheating for thin cracks.

GO

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
