Hey Climbers!

I’ve created a quick form to gather insights and experiences from the climbing community, and I’d love to hear from you! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, this little form is some fun data collection to make a chart of data

You can find the form here: forms.gle/obfuJrLGJYDCydid6

It’s short and should only take a few minutes. Thank you for participating in this—your feedback means a lot!

Let’s keep climbing,

Just a friendly tip: People are more likely to fill out your form if you write your post in a personalized way in your own words and also explain more about the survey. :-)

I tend to fill out these surveys to help folks out, despite my reservations about format, questions, choices, how respondents may self-select, etc. Good luck.

A friendly note…. I have multiple pairs of climbing shoes of different brands and was unable to express that in the survey. Also, I have multiple “favorite” rock types, climbing routes, etc. That also was hard to express given the choices.

What is the purpose of this survey?

Why is it that we get all those surveys and never the results?

You know I can be a harsh critic of these student surveys, Daniel. But this one was not at all bad as they go. Better than a lot of them!

But I agree with your points.

I wouldn’t be able to tell you even the day after I bought a pair of shoes how much they cost. I don’t even look. It’s such a process finding the right fit and the right performance for different climbing conditions, that those factors are my only focus. I guess if a pair of shoes cost more than $500 it would get my attention. But with 2-4 resoles over their lifetime and a pair of shoes lasting about 8 years for me,  the cost differential at the start seems irrelevant.

the resoling thing was in my consideration but I was thinking what you paided how much that upfront cost was one reason is the data table I want to make is if you climb harder do you buy more expensive shoes.

once I get more data I have about 30 replies I will send out the data and some graphs I made "I ain't Rian Jenks I like to have more than 2 data points but I do love his videos as well"

Looking forward to what you come up with, Ethan.

Ethan’s profile says he is 14 years old. I say, good for him to attempt this and I wish him well.

Ethan, I think it's great that you are trying to get the answers to your questions in a scientific way!  I will go look at my shoes and see if I can go back in and answer your survey.
