Mid-Late October too late for High Sierra Objectives?
|
Hello! Rain on Monday ruined my main climbing trip of the season (Conness West Ridge) and I'm trying to salvage what's left of the year. I have some friends available in mid and late October. Is that too late in the season for something like Bear Creek Spire or Temple Crag? How late do people typically climb in those areas? How about Tuolumne Meadows? I realize this is mostly an issue of just monitoring weather. Looking for general advice. |

No, unless yes. |

"this is mostly an issue of just monitoring weather" You know as much as anyone else can tell you at this point. Some years it's epic and awesome, some years totally shut down. That said, in my mind the typical window usually closes by the middle of October. Days are shorter and temps lower, so plan accordingly even when weather allows. |

If the weather is clear and not to windy October can be an excellent time for more sunny usually popular objectives. Shoot iv been on the hulk in October in a tee shirt. |

Depends on the weather |

“Is it too late in the season?” But isn’t it more typically yes, unless no? |

Change the objective and the Sierra season is year round. |

My birthday is in the middle of October and I usually try to do a backcountry birthday climb every year. It usually works out |
