Would love it for hiking to the base of the route, and being able to pre-download the maps (including some of the driving portion).

If that can't be done, an easy way to highlight & copy the lat/long coordinates inside the app would be much appreciated. There's a roundabout way via Open in Google Maps -> Share Directions -> select coords from the URL, but it really sucks.

i agree - an easy two-way interface with gaia would be super great.

Update: someone made a tool that sort of take cares of this, http://gpx.ridgeline-analytics.com/  import the GPX into Gaia. I like it!

That’s me! Let me know if you have any issues!  I put in some code to throttle it in case too many people try to hit the API.

Made an update that lets you get GPX files for routes nearby - https://gpx.ridgeline-analytics.com/

bump

I guess this is unlikely with the onX buyout, but some easy way of copying the lat & long would be really good. Show the lat & long in MP app, enable a long press to copy, then paste into any app.

Before the onX buyout, we had an integrated MP layer in Caltopo. Caltopo's API access got revoked immediately after the buyout.

Complicated tech question. I have a Google Pixel phone. I'm not sure I'll be able to accurately explain this, but whenever I'm using Mountain Project and I click on the "Directions" button, it opens in my Gaia app. Is it possible to change that setting to open in Google maps? I know this is possible because when I first got the phone a dialogue box opened up allowing me to select either Google maps or Gaia. I'm mistakenly hit the guy button and now it only opens in Gaia and does not give me the option to open it in Google maps. I'm not sure if this is a mountain project setting feature or a Google pixel setting feature. Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you.

try this:

settings > apps > default apps > opening links

then scroll to Gaia and see if there's a link you can delete.

Everything gets worse. Is it time for a new web site?
