Testing it out here. This hole is taking way longer than usual and a PiTA to clean, but still making progress! Stay tuned

Uh oh, weak point alert! Had the little lock ring (that retains the outer casing/body of the chuck) jump out of its channel, allowing the chuck to hyperextend and eject the steel ball that holds bits in position. Not sure what exactly triggered that, but could have been pressure from the side grip attachment sleeve which was a little loose and pushed forward against back of chuck. Fairly easy to repair since I noticed right away and saw the little ball bearing loose on the ground. Up on vertical terrain would have been a different story though...heads up!

Haven’t ever encountered that but it could be the side handle I guess.   The side handle is the first thing I take off when I by a new drill or at least don’t put it on so if it is caused by that I would never see it.   Those handles always get in the way and get hung up on stuff and encourage the user to apply too much pressure at the tip.  Maybe for a more powerful drill they would be useful but not these smaller ones.

We’re almost a year out from the last post. For those who purchased the Bauer, how is it holding up?

100% my preferred drill over my Milwaukee - to the point where if I stash a drill I’m stashing my Milwaukee instead. Feels a bit more responsive and struggles a lot less in colder conditions

Just waiting for things to dry out so I can keep going

I’ve put maybe 25-30 hours on it total, more chisel than drill; no further issues.

Jon! Been a long time, hope you are well!

Mine has held up surprisingly well. Better than my M12 or my old Panasonic. I have an M18, but I prefer the Bauer for both ground-up and top-down. I have two of them. The battery power is comparable to the m18's, so I typically get around the same amount of holes drilled. The 5 AH typically yields about a dozen, plus or minus depending on rock, and the 8 AH... I don't really know -- I never drill that many at one time. If I had to guess it's in the upper 20s.

Have probably 40-50 new routes using the Bauer since I bought it, still going strong.  Have had zero issues with it.

I'm in the market for a new drill, mostly for rap-bolting, and I'm wondering how people's continued experience has been. My main competitor is the DeWalt 20V. At this price point there must be a catch, no?

Also since I don't like carrying different batteries, has anyone used the Bauer leaf blower or power inflator for cleaning?

Mine is still going strong on year two with no signs of slowing down. I have the Bauer shop blower, which is basically a mini leaf blower, and love it for cleaning. I know others have used the power inflator with good results. The shop blower also comes with an inflator attachment if that's a deciding factor.

Mine is still going strong.   I don’t have the Bauer leaf blower, I have a Milwaukee leaf blower but lately I’ve been carrying the Bauer mini blower when developing top down.   It does an ok job at clearing bolting dust and dirt and is small and lightweight.   The battery never seems to go dead. I can go multiple days and never change the battery on the mini blower.  I also bought a weed eater for $39 or right around that price to keep the trails clear and base area clear.

Y'all, this bad boy is on sale right now for $30. I might pick up a second for a rainy day.

This is a crazy good deal - thanks for posting! I've been using my (much more expensive) Milwaukee drill lately, while this one is stashed, and really missing how much better it is.

$30 is crazy, if I didn't have my dewalt I'd do this in a heartbeat

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.

Fixed Hardware: Bolts & Anchors
