Taco fold pad storage?

Just picked up a new pad (BD drop zone). It’s a taco-style fold meaning that there’s no crease, you just kind of bend it into half. Assuming I shouldn’t store it like this, incase it might get misshapen? Anyone have experience or opinions on this?

If you store it folded, it will retain the folded shape somewhat  when you lay it down to climb.

I own an organic blubber pad and a big pad (a folding pad with a ~1" piece of foam that runs across the top of the crease for better protection). I always store my pads open to minimize the amount of compaction they experience in hopes that they will age uniformly. Foam degrades in several ways, one of which is compaction and pressure over time. If you store foam folded, the areas that are compacted during this time will degrade at a faster rate and you will end up with "dead spots" (or dead lines) in your pad. Not a big deal if you go with a big crew, but if it's your main source of protection it won't be fun to hit a dead spot on a significant fall. If I owned a taco pad I would definitely store it open if I had the space.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
