In New Mexico on Hwy 38 not too far from Red River. Tried finding it on here but I didn’t see it.

It's gotta be one of these.  The search for Craigs continues!

No, that's a crag. The OP is trying to identify a Craig.

Craig is a masculine name of Scottish, Gaelic, and Welsh origins. Coming from the Gaelic word creag, this name translates to “rock” or “rocky.” It also comes from the word “crag,” which describes a steep, rugged cliff that makes for a stunning sight on the Scottish coast.

All Craig jokes aside (ha!), the Cimmaron Canyon area is part of the Colin Neblett Wilderness Management Area and, sadly, rock climbing is strictly prohibited. https://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Colin-Neblett-GAIN-WMA-NMDGF.pdf

Why is everything allowed but rock climbing?

I don't know.  Maybe Craig has the answer.

That Craig, he’s a fickle fucker.

Rock climbing, no way! But you can probably raise dust devils with yer quad while dragging a coyote carcass and blasting Cat Scratch Fever out the boom box.

Fallout from bolt wars in the 90s IIRC

Not at all true. It is left over from a compact between the Feds and the State when that land was transferred to State ownership. Basically, the condition of the transfer was that the land could be used to manage and view wildlife only, or the land would revert back to federal ownership.
The State used to tolerate climbing at Cimarron, but then thought better of it.

Ah interesting, thanks for that information. I read a thread on here from many years ago about bolt wars being a driver of the decision to shut down climbing at palisades.

Artem, perhaps people have/are climbing there, and they choose not to spray on the internet, thereby not jeopardizing access?  Perhaps you could channel your energy into regaining access by contact local orgs and getting the ball rolling?  Side note: By the sheer definition of communism, China, -- having the word's second largest capitalist economy -- is communist in name only.

Fair enough. Ok, we shall change the term to socialist market economy.  My main point stands: China is communist in name only.

I can't imagine immigrating to a country to then shit talk it, defy rules and not pay off college loans.  I guess I'm just too darn happy to live here?

It's definitely hard to label the most powerful countries,  China has more millionaires than ever, they are promoting capitalism now.

1) I didn’t immigrate here, my parents did. I would have chosen France, New Zealand, or Canada if it was up to me. But I’m stuck here at this point so I’m making the best of it. I don’t hate it - it’s pretty good here but the locals tend to overrate it and call it the best country in the world - propaganda is a hell of a drug. I’m not going to ride y’alls dick for the “privilege” of living here - there’s plenty of people who will do it for you already. It’s weird to expect absolutely everybody, without exception, to be only happy about it. Not how the human experience works. Coerced admiration is not real admiration.

2) Paid off all my loans for public college tuition via settlement - but the fact that we have to take them out in the first place to get an education is shithole-tier quality of life feature for the supposed “richest” country on the planet. Sorry if me pointing that out hurts your feelings. It’s true though.

3) Isn’t America all about the first amendment? I’m just exercising my rights. Maybe Russia might be more your pace if you like brain dead nationalism. For me though, I like America for the ability to criticise obviously shitty public policy. That is part of what makes this country great (not the best, but definitely great. We might even be the best one day, if we can catch up to other developed countries in a few key ways)

2) 12 years of free education is not enough for you? You want other people to pay for your college as well? (The govt just takes the $ from others and redistributes)

3) Nationalism is GOOD. I wish there was more of it here in US. It blows my mind how many people become super successful here, some even billionaires and then complain about how oppressive and racist this country is (some of those complaining BILLIONAIRES being a minority)

So sort of like billionaires?
