Hi! Chiming in as a representative of Friends of the Ledges here! We’re currently working on solutions to this issue. At the moment the most important thing is for climbers to stay off the tracks as much as possible, to be respectful towards railroad workers, and to encourage others to do the same. We’re asking climbers to approach the Ampitheater using the Frankenstein Cliff trail instead of the tracks, in an effort to minimize usage of the tracks (this approach is outlined in the map below). Hopefully we’ll be able to provide more guidance and updates eventually. In the meantime, it would be helpful for folks to spread the word about using this approach and being aware of the fact that trains could pass through at any time. |

Absolutely gutted right now. As if global warming isn't bad enough, now we may not have access to the LHMW area and now more difficult access to Hanging Gardens, etc? How many cars can fit in those alternate pullouts vs Arethusa and the Highland Center? I know, first world problems. |

This is a bummer. I hope the trains are infrequent enough that the railroad doesn't mind some limited travel along the tracks to reach different climbing sites. |
