This chart from UP appears to agree with the above.  I may be interpreting it incorrectly, but comparing Hardness with DIN Abrasion, there is not as much of a correlation as one might expect if softer rubber were to wear a lot more easily.

He might be referring to the UP RA rubber which is thought to be similar to Onyxx. Shore A about 80-84 I think. Comparable to the Davos Hard rubber.

Pardon Locker, I just asked for stiff rubber and got back shoes with stiff rubber. Couldn't figure out their rubber and worked out so far.

Felt stiffer than the rubber on they put on Anasazi and definitely not as soft as old C4 on that shoe. Ymmv, the xs edge last longer, and Locker knows way more than me. 

I can now vouch for backcountry cobbler. Jay did a fantastic job resoling my dragos with unparallel rs. They basically look factory.
