High Mountain Gear Contact
|
Does anyone have a contact @ High Alpine Gear? I placed an online order via their store going on three weeks ago. My card has been charged, but I've not received my gear or any emails at all. I've tried contacting them through the contact info on their website, but no luck. Thought I'd try on MP before I process a charge back with my credit card company. |

DM through MP worked for me and I am very happy with my purchase. |

After looking at their website, I would be afraid to order from them. No "about" section. No address or phone number. |

Whiskeybullets wrote: Hello, Kyle here the owner of High Mountain Gear. Some difficult circumstances have made it difficult to focus on both ends of manufacturing/customer contact. I apologize for the lack of communication. I also rebuilt the website recently, and I am working with a webpage designer to get the ancillary pages filled out. I have been working on the current batch of Tacos the last couple days, and will have them out in the mail tomorrow. Regards,

Wanted to report that Kyle followed through on his message above and I received a very high quality Taco ledge in the mail this week. Satisfied High Mountain Gear customer! |

Whiskeybullets wrote: Thanks for following up, the last few weeks have been frustrating and I am happy to have these out and doing things. As a heads up, the new Taco storm fly (The Gordito) will be discounted for existing Taco owners, I just need to get this new sewing machine set up and running (it’s specific to the fly, which is why I was never too stoked on making a lot of them before).

Kyle, will The Gordito show up on the website when it's available, or will you contact Taco owners directly? |

Duncan Domingue wrote: Hi Duncan, Likely both, except I would lean towards contacting owners directly first since they already have them. I don’t recall the specific legality of marketing emails, but if you signed up as a subscriber on the website you will get an email about it. Apparently you can’t just spam emails to anyone, even if they made a purchase. Seems like a thing someone would like to know exists considering the niche aspect of the product. Kyle

That's good to know! I'll go subscribe on the website right now, it looks like I missed that step when I bought my Taco from you. |

That’s a 76” thermarest in the taco, and it seems like the tail strap is significantly too short. Am I setting up incorrectly? |

Whiskeybullets wrote: I am not always on Mountain Project, so I am seeing this now. What it looks like(and I can't see the top) is several problems, but it's speculative. This pad is 25"x76" to 77", so at its complete maximum. What I would suggest is setting the straps to the limit and then inflating the pad to make adjustments. I don't really see how it's possible I made an error on both the flaps and the body, since I make each part in batches. Ironically I was working on a foot pad "sleeve" retro part today since it appears most users of the Taco are putting the biggest possible pad in there, and with that you get a significant stick out. I have never seen or heard of anyone use a 60" pad in a Taco, it's always 72"-76" and even some ungodly lengths/widths. Let me work on the add on sleeve and I can send those out to whoever needs/wants them. Kyle High Mountain Gear Shown here is from Yann Camus' wall clinic. I don't even know what that pad is but its ginormous. |
