Petzl Ange Finesse Dogbone - opinions?

Time to retire my fuzzy nylons. Does anybody have experience with the Petzl Ange Finesse Dogbones? I've never used Dyneema dogbones before, but these appeal to me because they are lightweight *and* wide, for pulling up on projects. I've heard that one possible issue is too much movement of the rope-side carabiner due to dyneema being lower volume than traditional nylon. TIA!

My carabiners are still good, I'm just looking to replace the soft parts, in 17cm.

Yeah the grommets for the rope side are not made any different for the finesse dogbones and so they work like shite, especially with a carabineer with any weight to it. As a result of this they tend to feel pretty floppy on that end (carabineer has inertia, when the dogbone moves it lags after it)

Ooh, yeah, that's exactly what I was wondering about. Good to know before springing on a whole set! I will buy one and see how it feels. Thank you!

The "older" model of these used to have uniform, slim dogbones and "strings" (the rubber carabiner keeper) that worked much better.  The Ange are some of my favorite carabiners, and I wish they had not put essentially slightly modified Spirit dogbones on them.  I've had the slimmer ones for years and they're still going strong. Idk if I'd buy the Ange quickdraws now with the larger dogbones.

The Ange carabiner actually has a small lip where the (original) thin dyneema dogbones sit. This kept, in addition to the tight-fitting String, kept the carabiner properly oriented in the dogbone. When my dogbones started wearing out a bought a set of the newer, fatter ones. Because they're fatter, the lip on the carabiner no longer works properly. The problem is exacerbated by the loose-fitting String which doesn't grab the carabiner very well at all. As a result I got rid of my new dogbones and went out and found a bunch of old-stock thin dyneema ones. Sometimes I really don't understand why otherwise reputable companies make such poor design decisions.

I ended up pairing them with Camp Photon, straight gate bolt-side and wire-gate rope side and they are working well so far!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
