Maybe we can start a thread of where to eat in Utah? It's not a state known for its cuisine.

That is no longer true at all. Utah once again does well with this year's James Beard nominations.

Chefs at five Utah restaurants were named semifinalists for "best chef" in the mountain region; and four other establishments were named for their own respective award categories.
The full breakdown is as follows:
Best Chef, Mountain Region: Paul Chamberlain and Logen Crew, SLC Eatery (Salt Lake City)
Best Chef, Mountain Region: Andrew Fuller, Oquirrh (Salt Lake City)
Best Chef, Mountain Region: Briar Handly, Handle (Park City)
Best Chef, Mountain Region: Young-Ho Kang and Peter Kim, The Angry Korean (South Jordan)
Best Chef, Mountain Region: Ali Sabbah, Mazza (Salt Lake City)
Outstanding Restaurant: Hell's Backbone Grill and Farm (Boulder, Garfield County)
Outstanding Bakery: Normal Ice Cream (Salt Lake City)
Outstanding Hospitality: Manoli's (Salt Lake City)
Outstanding Bar: Post Office Place (Salt Lake City)

Yup large metro areas have good restaurants but being Beard nominees they will be pricy, probably. Now if one of those was in Blanding I might consider them but I don't see that happening. Last time I drove through the salt lake metro from north to south was 81 miles and had no desire to stop except for gas. I have an aversion to ant piles no matter how good the food is.

You should probably remember that despite appearances, people from places other than Colorado climb in Moab and the Creek.

Believe it when I see it. Ha.

Just kidding. I’m just thinking that if OP is driving from the east there is a good chance he will go right through Fruita on his way. The hot tomato is worth a stop.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
