When climbing and rock and ice merged I got a multi year subscription. Their offshore customer service cancelled and then restarted it. Digital is not included with paper edition. Auto Renew is automatically on unless you turn it off.

Is this a PSA or Question?

I'm bumping up this question. I hope someone can help.

Those “offshore” customer service outfits sure are tricky. I have email alerts on all transactions to ensure my financial safety.

The best way to deal with Outside is to log in to your account, go to the subscription page and then cancel forever.

Well now it is all digital - even if you paid for a couple of years of paper magazines. Arg.

Yeah...Outside magazine buying up Rock and Ice and Climbing is a disaster. First they killed Rock and Ice (the better of the two) and now they are killing Climbing. No more climbing magazines in the U.S. except for Alpinist Magazine.  The digital editions may have lower overhead but I doubt they will have as many people subscribing.  At least not me.

one of the things that has been bugging me is dredging up old articles, instead of new content.  although, that being said, the old stuff is a lot better than the new stuff.  now that i think about it, maybe they should just keep re-printing old stuff and just do away with the new stuff.

I was a digital subscriber to both RI and Climbing. As they started to lock down their web content, my subscription through Apple never allowed me to access content on the web. Customer service was nonexistent. Climbing was still chumming for business at the Lander festival last summer. While the magazine was really pretty good, they’d lost me. It probably needs to go away for awhile, then be resurrected by a small band of committed writers. It’s strange that right when climbing is at its greatest popularity, climbing media is mostly not great (the Zine excepted of course).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
