Best Car Camping Sleeping Pad for Summer?

Jeremy Bauman wrote: Thanks, Getting several mentions for the Xped. 1) What is the warrantee and what is their service like? Many pads are lifetime warrantee. I have an Xped sleeping bag - very much not impressed, would never have planned buying anything else from them. Wouldn't consider buying anything from them again without a lifetime warrantee and a recommendation on service quality. 2) Can you tell me what country it was made in? Thanks, TPC |

I've had Exped DownMats for 12 years now and am extremely impressed with Exped's warranty. It's not a "lifetime" warranty, but well beyond what most other manufacturer's do. I accidentally punctured a pad with a key last year. It was 6 years old and though I was willing/expecting to pay for the repair, Exped sent me a new one. Excellent company, imo! That's right - our everyday "double bed" for the last 6-7 years has been comprised of a platform or slat bed frame with two Silverback Paco Pads! Amazingly, the foam and vinyl are holding up just as new. The pads were a couple of our must-keep items that we even moved with us internationally last fall. |

Exped megamat, no competition. |

In the event, yes, the Exped Megamat is really good. It's huge, takes up a lot of room in the car, the carrier bag is stupid (It's fiddly to fold it over properly to close it -it has no zipper). The very, very simple soft foot pump works surprisingly well. Did I mention it's really comfy? I think there are two versions, I got the less thick one and it's really comfy. Thanks to all for your recommendations. -TPC PS - Review is for car camping at summer temperatures. |

Costco queen size air mattress, an inverter, and extension cord. Could also get a small battery powered charging station. I did that with a full size air mattress, best sleep ever got in a tent.

+1 for the Home Depot 3" foam. Very affordable so you don't have to worry about it getting thrashed in the back of your car like an air filled pad. Plus it can actually "breathe" a bit due to the foam construction so its relatively comfortable even on warm humid nights. |

+1 to not getting a blow up mattress for car camping HEST makes nice products, this may be a good fit for what you are looking for |
