Resling Cams
|
I have some cams that need to be reslung. Any recommendations? Is there a place in Colorado that does that? Thanks |

Honest question: What value do they provide over DIY re-slinging with webbing or cord? |

Runout Customs did me right twice. If you have a bunch of Metolii, it's worth sending them to Metolius. They will inspect, clean, lube, and resling for $3. |

Your post reminded me that I need to get a bunch of that done! I also have had good luck with Runout Customs. However, if you have BD gear to do, it looks like they still offer that service and the reviews seem favorable. https://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_US/product/camalot-trade-re-sling-service/ |

Posting my review of Runout Customs as I just had a tremendous experience with them. TLDR: 9/10. Great experience with Runout customs. Fast turnaround, excellent quality. Do not expect the slings to match BD's exact style. Why Support local business. Right time to resling the cams as I’m injured. Timeline 10 days with shipping. 5 day turnaroud - insanely quick. Positives Great communication - Luke was fantastic about communicating, both through email and when I called with a question. I never felt in the dark. Consistent quality - Each sling was done to the exact same length and same quality. Speed - I sent in 19 cams total and they were turned around in 5 days. Questions/Concerns
Finally - PICS! A sample of the 19 total cams I sent in. Color difference of modern C4 (left) and newly reslung C4. Some have a black centerline marking, others do not. TLDR: 9/10. Great experience with Runout customs. Fast turnaround, excellent quality. Do not expect the slings to match BD's exact style. |

Look closely. It’s not stitching. Some webbing manufacturers weave in that center line. |

I just got a set of 20+ year old TCUs back from them and they look perfect, can hardly tell they've been used A while ago I sent BD an email asking about reslinging camalots, the website showed OOS. After a week of not hearing back I sent them to Runout Customs. Went for the dyneema slings. They turned out great, different than the originals but colors match the cams. About two weeks after that BD emailed me back to say they're reslinging cams again. Website shows OOS now so I don't know what's going on with them Ragged Mountain is another option on the east coast. It's not listed on the website but they told me they still do it |

Just a bit of a PITA to do two separate shipments (one to Runout, one to Metolius). |

It initially told him “out of stock” as well - they said they make it available once a month, and after enough people pay for reslinging they make it unavailable for the rest of the month so they don’t get overloaded with reslinging. I’ve used Mtn Tools for dyneema reslinging a few times and always been happy with the results |

Anyone know if Runout Customs would resling a cam that didn't originally come with an extendable sling with an extendable sling? I know they state on their website that they'll only use reinforced Nylon for BD but there are no other restrictions mentioned and they never responded to me when I emailed them. Not a huge deal, I just have some rigid friends, rock empire, and metolius cams that didn't originally come with extendable slings that are stiff enough that it might be nice to have them on there if Runout is willing. Similarly wasn't sure if the "C4s can only have reinforced Nylon" thing extends to ultralights as well since those come with reinforced dyneema from the factory. |

Runout Customs did a superb job on my C4's. . . 'just sayin. . . |

Re-slings are available at Black Diamond again. I had used the service in mid November around thanksgiving and meant to post after it was completed. I received my cams back (9 C4's, 2 C3's) in less than 1 month, but at that point it was sold out. Quality was great. It's back in stock. https://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_US/content/cam-repair/ |

Metolius does a fantastic job. I sent all of my metolius cams in for re-slinging. They came back looking and working perfectly. They clean, lube and put on new slings. Great service!! |

13 cams just made it back home. Wisconsin > Utah > Wisconsin. 1.5 weeks tops. They look great, pro stitching & sling colors all make sense. I have a variety of cams, didn't want to bother sending 4 boxes to different manufacturers. Sending them all to one human, who was friendly, responsive & professional when I emailed = simpler for me and I get to support a small business run by another human who shares my vertical addiction. Highly recommend. |
