BLM camping near Truckee/ North Tahoe

Hello,

Can anyone recommend BLM spots to camp at around Truckee/ North Tahoe? Pretty difficult finding a last-minute camping reservation so any beta would be great!

Not much BLM on the California side, and BLM in Nevada isn't really widely available until you are well east of the US 395 corridor. 

I'd suggest national forest land ~30-45 min north of Truckee on highway 89, around the Independence Lake area. 

I’ve had luck staying in the lot across from Donner Ski Ranch. Not BLM, but a place to crash for a couple nights. 

There's a place I stayed that is way up in the mtns... it runs beside the PCT.
