The best Youtube Climbing Videos

I watch climbing videos while I work out, mostly on Youtube.  

For pure video of folks climbing, I prefer TV Mountain.  Just well shot video of people climbing cool routes.  I especially appreciate the fact that 99% of their videos don't have a loud music soundtrack.  There's something very motivating about hearing the sound of crampons on snow and ice while I'm on my stair stepper.

I also watch a lot of instructional videos.  After watching several hundred, my hands down favorite instructional videos are from this guy:

They are aimed at the climber who knows something of the basics and is interested in learning more.  They tend to be longer and more in-depth than some of the other instructional videos out there.

 Many of the other instructional videos from other channels seem to be aimed at short attention span newbies, or are made by folks of dubious expertise.   So far, I haven't found any of this guy's videos that I didn't think was worth watching.  

Of the professionally produced climbing videos I've seen lately, my favorite is a video I saw on Amazon Prime.  It tells the story of a recent climbing trip to China by Canadian ice climber Will Gadd.

It's called, "Will Power" and is definitely worth 40 minutes of your time if you're into ice climbing.

I've liked quite a few videos from this guy. It's generic technical climbing topics mostly, stuff like how he thinks about what he belay setup may be in a given situation, the perpetual debates about munters/grigri/atc, belay off the harness vs anchors, etc. I'd say it's mostly intermediate technical climbing stuff, I mostly like that he's pretty down to earth with his thinking and always presents things in a way that makes you think as well, not necessarily selling an answer. Rambles a bit, personally I like his ramblings.

Thanks for posting that, I didn’t realize Glen had a channel. Once upon a time he helped open the pandora’s box of crack climbing for me.

I’m rather partial to any of the Alaska trip report style videos online. And check out the red bull.tv ones if you haven’t yet for something longer.

Edit: and of course, the dozens of pages of videos in the trad climbing forum on this site.

his voice is just oddly soothing like climbing ASMR or something.  My being from the US vs his European experience means a lot of his choices seem strange, but really enjoyable to watch anyway.

i'll bite:

sonnie trotter climbing the cobra crack - there's not that many videos of sonnie trotter that i can find, but i think the technicality of his climbing is very impressive. love watching him do difficult things. the meat of the route starts at 5:10 into the video. he climbs it very differently than the videos of the few others who did it.

alex honnold on the enduro corner, from free solo - call me basic, but the imagery is insane. anyone person on earth can appreciate the magnitude of what's happening.

johnny dawes on no hands climbing - feels like he's my spirit animal in the climbing world. i think this video is good if you find yourself taking climbing - grades, routes, styles - a little too seriously. climbing is pointless and that's why it's healing.

johnny dawes climbs the quarryman - this is a great battle with a route that you can't get used to. it's a different style every few feet.

pete whitaker's first ascent of dynamics of change - pete taught a crack climbing class at our gym, which unlocked something for me, how to climb well (even if not climbing hard), so maybe i'm biased to how good he is. in this video his mom is belaying him and would need to jump off the cliff so he won't die. the grasshopper-leg mantle thing is unbelievable. my mom would never condone this.

Holy shit, I watched this laying in bed and I swear my sheets were soaked afterwards. Fucking grit-stone
