Has anyone been down the road leading to Miller Fork lately? Would it be reasonable to take a standard 4 door car down? I am heading to the Red for thanksgiving and wanted to know, Thanks.

Hey Greg, Thanks for taking the time to ask first! The hill on the road has been getting thrashed by low clearance, 2WD sedans spinning out in futile attempts to climb out of miller fork. The damage to your vehicle is likely not worth the trip to MFRP. I’d suggest climbing on the other properties for your trip or asking around to carpool with someone that has a high clearance 4WD vehicle! Enjoy your trip!

There is a back way if you look at google maps, just be aware that there are 2 shallow creek crossings which are fine in dry conditions for a car, but not after a recent rainfall

Cole T with good beta above--went a couple weekends back and it was pretty thrashed, nothing I'd want to take a low-clearance sedan down for sure...

I was just there this past weekend. The hill has been regraded with gravel so you should be fine. We made it down in a Nissan Altima without any issues

The conditions can change dramatically from weekend to weekend. A lot of times they re-grade the road, then there is rain (which is expected between now and Thanksgiving), and a bunch of excited people who had heard that the road has been regraded, and is in great shape... and so, week later, it is back to ruts.
The back way was in better shape 10 days ago (we went down one way, and up the other way, so we saw both roads), but IMO, as soon as there are more people going that way, it, too, would degrade quickly. There is a steep-ish hill section, as well as a creek crossing.
What I'm trying to say is... find someone to carpool with, save the road.

We made it down in a Nissan Altima without any issues The hill was not regraded (although some gravel was added at the crux) it is still heavily pitted by 2 wheel drives slipping and bumping their way up that hill. It was bad enough today that a red sprinter van was stuck at the crux section. He, ultimately, popped a tire and had to be assisted out with the help of others. This is not a 2 wheel drive road. It's irresponsible to ruin the road in your 2WD altima, civic, sprinter, etc.

The bad part is steep and rutted. If it has rained recently or is wet I can imagine it is awful. We were there two weeks ago and cars were having trouble. Posts below said some gravel was added but judging by what I saw, I'd say don't do it wo hi-clearance and 4wd.

I haven't been to miller fork yet, so just about any wall would suit me. I am going to the red with my wife and dog, so we tend to look for cliffs with 5.9 to 5.12 options. Would that work out?

Also keep in mind that if your car was to slide to the right at the crux of the drive (going uphill) you'd be looking at some pretty horrific consequences.

Screw that hill, nearly slid off the steep side trying to back up after not getting up. I would never drive down without 4wd again. Problem is, you can’t tell how bad the hill is until your on it so you’re kind of stuck trying to drive back up it.

I decided not to take my prius down the road this week. The hill is rutted as all hell. Also, at the bottom after you make the right, some of the puddles are really deep. That said, I saw people made it in and out with a camry and corolla so ymmv.
