Winter is coming....What leggings do you wear?

My new goal is to wear leggings while climbing this winter.  Sometimes when my SO takes a whip, my left testicle gets caught in my legloop. Any thoughts on whether this will help Andy?

I was going to just make fun of you, but I’d rather indulge my curiosity. What’s wrong with men wearing leggings? Honestly don’t get it.

Andy, men in leggings have free soloed harder than you would ever be capable of top roping.

I’d recommend men don’t criticize others clothing decisions.

Eddie Bauer fleece lined guide pants. Good for 30-40 degree days.

You know it’s funny, I was just listening to some guys at a climbing event the other night joking about the colorful tights they wore in the 80s. The butt of the joke was essentially the same: “haha, men (especially older ones) shouldn’t wear stuff like that”. I laughed along and told them that they are all boring now. Begs the question though, was the “demasculinization of the American male” complete 40 yrs ago? Or does fashion, and comfort levels with standing out in a crowd, vary with time? Honestly though, what is “unmasculine” about tights? Can any of you probable homo/femmephobes give an honest answer?

Wait, I though AR-15s were a stand in for masculinity. Does that mean that the AR-15 is dead too? Two birds...

My father worked the North Sea oil rigs in the late 60's through the mid 70's. Brutal conditions. The men on the rigs would wear women's nylon stockings frequently. Reduced chafing and added a small degree of warmth.

Not a person on this site that would tell any of those men they are not masculine.

I climb rock, ice, and ride bikes year round in Minnesnowta. I highly recommend the Patagonia Capilene Air (pricey). They work fantastic under hard shells or soft shells or jeans. Biking in last years polar vortex at -20F, I wore those and a heavy softshell pant. As long as I kept moving, I was fine.

21 likes doesn't equal 22 intelligent people. Unless you liked your own post. Then your even.

Correct! Still, it does explain the silly reason why you and so and so are mad...

If staying warm while getting after it is "mad" then I'm guilty.

No, no, no...

  • Staying warm is normal. That's all.
  • You're mad cuz so and so got too many stupid hits on his troll...
  • Which I don't even know if he did...

These have gotten me through the last several seasons of rock, ice, skiing and commuting. Very happy with them.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
