Do you own a yeti cooler or equivalent? does yours cause cancer in California?
I recently bought an RTIC cooler, which is roto molded cooler similar to Yeti. It has a Prop 65 warning on the bottom of it, which is the "This is known to cause cancer in California" warning. Just curious if this is a normal thing for high-end coolers? or am I getting cancer for buying a knock off brand? |
We live in a nanny state. Starbucks coffee has to carry the same warning. |
It is also a good idea to hold your breath while driving your car so you do not inhale exhaust fumes |
I’m kind of blown away by the amount and variety of things that California “knows” to cause cancer. |
I am too. But I'm also interested in if this is an across the board thing for high-end coolers. |
I own a grizzly. |
FWIW, my Yeti does have a Prop 65 warning below the warning not to let your child play in the cooler. Presumably if your infant survives that, he might get cancer... |
They should issue "yur gonna die" warnings instead |
most likely BPA, well known carcinogen....basically all plastic has it in it. Also beer/soda cans. Its actually scary how many chemicals are in the use in the US currently without absolutely any testing done on carcinogenic properties etc. |
Water and air are both part of the reason anyone has ever gotten cancer. And if you drink water their is a 100% chance you are going to die. |
also if you don't drink water you are going to die. But you need to be careful because if you drink too much water you will die. Water is really deadly. Be safe out there guys! |

If it only causes cancer in CA just use it in other states and you're safe....... ;) |
Your cooler will only cause cancer if you grind it up into a very fine powder and snort it , which they sometimes do in California. |
Maybe California just doesn’t want you to look like a dick with an overpriced cooler? |
Prop 65 is a voter approved law that is overly broad to the point of being useless. Unless you are planning on melting your cooler down and drinking the resulting mess, you will be fine, at least when it comes to getting cancer from the cooler itself. You are more likely to contract cancer from any luncheaon meats you store inside. Of course, it you do melt it and drink it, cancer will be the least of your worries. |

So looks like BPA was removed in 2013, but added again in 2015, but just for females: https://oehha.ca.gov/media/downloads/proposition-65/p65122917_0.pdf

Luckily I use a locally sourced bio-cooler: I prison tuck some ice and cold food too. My friends hate it when I bring lunch to crag.. If this sounds crazy, it is just the autism you got from vaccines... |
If anyone is interested, I emailed the company and they said they are required to carry the label due to overseas manufacturing. This is probably across the board for any roto molded cooler not manufactured in the US. |
How can it even cause cancer? |
