Warning to all climbers in SLC area. Today, me and 2 friends were on the upper ledge (rapping 4th pitch) of Pentapitch when multiple rounds were fired at us from a green sedan on the side of the vaults road, near gate B. Of the 15 Shots, ~5-7 whistled past us and hit rock around us. The other shots were fired and nearly hit climbers on Stifflers Mom.

Police are investigating and have found casings.

WARNING TO ALL CLIMBERS: be aware of your surroundings and keep your eyes open.

Shit, that's a new one.  Extremely glad you and your friends are ok!  As far as safety I worry about a lot of other things climbing but getting shot is not one of them!   I think I can speak for all the Utah community when I say I hope these criminals are caught as soon as possible.  Again, glad you guys are ok I imagine that was terrifying.

Holy Shit! Glad you're ok. I was thinking of climbing there this morning, but woke up under the weather!

Is this an objective or subjective hazard?

What the hell would having a gun done for any one of  those climbers? It's that stupid ass "more guns fix everything" attitude that led this shooter to own guns and get bored of shooting at cans, and then bottles, then random household appliances all the while leaving them all over the desert.

The shooter and his gun(s) is serial killer in action.  It's reminiscent of the sniper killer in VA a decade or so ago. Took shots at people because he knew he could get away.

Def makes Pentapitch one letter grade harder.....or easier depending on chipped holds. I may need to take the day off tomorrow to ensure the integrity of the route.

Is this for real? Seems like that would make the news.

Go out to The Blob or Lone Rock on a nice weekend day in the spring or fall.  You will be dodging automatic weapons fire all day long, but at least that doesn't seem intentional.  It must be over a quarter mile direct line from the vault driveway over to Pentapitch, so they must have been shooting a high powered rifle with scope, and known they were shooting at people.  Lots of people driving up and down 210 during the day, and 15 rifle shots must have been a lot of noise echoing in the canyon.  Too bad no one driving by got a license plate number.  Crazy stuff, glad you are ok.

Yikes, my partner and I were below Sasquatch and heard the bullets whizzing above our heads. Called it in and shortly after they sent a helicopter to scout the area. Yeah.

Very powerful rifle, and it fired semi-automatic. Cars were driving past while they were shooting. The other climbers called it in but so far no other people. There are cameras on the pole right before gate B and we're hoping it caught them driving down canyon.

My guess is the vehicle, rifle is in hiding, prob some local reds, this prob would be classified as domestic terrorism and will not be taken litely, hopefully you will see something on TV asking for the publics help if the DPS comes up emptyhanded.
