I have also liked Campbell Saddle Wedges but, now entering my 60's I am not leading as much. I have #2 through #6 and an #8 that I would be willing to part with. Back in the 80's they probably cost at least $10 each. Given their rarity / value today I would let them go for $15 each and you pay shipping. They are all used but, the engraving is still legible. I have replaced the rope with crimped cables. Let me know if you are interested? Regards, Scott
As a Devil's Lake regular from the '70's through the '90's (and still lucky enough to be climbing at age 72), I remember picking up a set of Saddlewedges from a Madison WI outdoor store, probably in the early 1980's-all except one. Can't recall if it was the #5 or 6, but the casting die for that one broke and it never went back into production. If my memory is correct, they were made in Madison.
In any case, the only complete set I ever saw in the original plastic bags was at the home of Pete Cleveland. (Younger guys, google the name if you don't know it.) He probably still has them in perfect condition. I do know that the smallest (#2, I believe) saved my life, or at least kept me from a much longer fall at least twice, and it was the only nut I could get in anywhere around on both of those occasions. Yes, I still have it and still use it, though the cord has been replaced several times.
