I am not poking fun at you so don't take it that way but should we just let the assholes bolt the fourth class moves on Old Woman as to avoid government interference? I mean how the hell are these people getting hurt? The first fifth class moves on Double Cross are protected from a completely safe flatfooted hands free rest. If I was sure that the GOV would not intervene someday I'd keep this perfectly safe climb "as is" one because it is perfectly safe and two just to clean some of the riff raff out of the community.

Jeremy..... poke fun if you wish. I don't care.
DOUBLE CROSS has great pro, if one is smart enuf to have respect for mear 5.8 but this fellow, Jim Mitch flew off of Mikes Books. F6

He probability is unaware of the true Josh ratings. e.g. "the boulder problem start is not part of the rating for the climb"....

But with the start of "THE SEASON" this lifeflight thing will become much more frequent.

you watch MP, and if this year was like last year, there will be more than one per weekend.

I got flash backs about JT reading this post. I remember when there was only a fixed piton on double cross. Bolts? Nice. In regards to EMS, unless you are unconscious or altered, they must ask and get consent to treat you. Otherwise it is assault. The story does not sound right.

K2.... "The story does not sound right."

No not at all.... I was flabbergasted when I learned about it. Boggles the mind...

These were JOSAR boys not regular EMTs trained in public service.

I was first on scene to an accident on Toe Crack last New Years. Waiting in line for the crapper, I watched a climber develop Elvis leg and fall about 20 feet up. He pulled his gear, decked, and smacked his unhelmeted head. He was snoring and unconscious when I got there, so I told the ranger (who was there for climbers' coffee) that he needed a helicopter ride. He woke upr before getting on the bird and was fine. He was probably in the Palm Springs ER 45 minutes after the fall. I'm sure the bill hurt like a bitch, but if that same accident happened ten times, I'd bet money the flight would save someone's life.

You shouldn't get put on a bird without consent, but a fall at J Tree (long transport by ambulance, no way to know whether you've got a brain bleed) is the exact situation where a helicopter is essential.

Hey guy keese,
I live in Jtree. I'm aware of the Jtree ratings. I've been climbing here for quite awhile. I've climbed that route before... My foot slipped, is that simple. Accidents happen.

So, the second bolt?

^^^ The top of that route looks super run out. Someone should add a few more bolts up there. Don't want anyone to get hurt!

I was thinking maybe a second line of bolts on the right side of the crack for people who use double rope technique.

It would also help the left handed folks. I say go for it.

WTF Is it just the perspective, or are those bolts right next to a Crack?

Permadraws would be nice for projecting

No. They are sooo far away from the crack and super inconvenient for a lefty to clip.

It would be better if the bolts alternate sides and those bolts are way too close together.

Good to hear that you survived Jim! I was in the area as everything was going down. First I drove by an accident with a car overturned in the desert. I continued on to Intersection where I saw a ranger car. I drove in to tell them about the accident and there was a full-blown rescue in progress, so I bailed. About ten minutes later the paramedics arrived. I wonder what the accident people were thinking when the paramedics drove bye and kept on going? Maybe 40 minutes later I saw the helicopter landing. Assuming it was a climber, I was bummed for you bud.

Maybe with different colors for right side and left side, so folks will know which line of bolts to clip for which rope.

It's one's Perspective.

I'm just bummed because they cut my harness off (yes, I gave them permission, my hip was hurting pretty bad and I was already in enough pain) and my new Prana pants that my wife just gave me for my birthday. And I feel horrible that she had to watch the whole thing.
One thing I think I forgot to mention. There was a doctor and a nurse a couple of routes over and 2 or 3 more climber nurses were there within minutes. The climbing community is awesome. If you responded to help me and you're reading this, thank you!
